Looking at possibly opening a Smoothie King franchise, curious if any of you go there often, or your likes/dislikes about them...

Thanks...

The Peanut Butter smoothie is excellent. This will be good but it's all location. Low risk.

I would think that the Smoothie King time of making good money is behind us.

If I were to start a franchise right now in the food industry, it would be Moe's Burritos or something similar (after investigating their BP).

I have a good friend that started a Mellow Mushroom pizza in Lexington, KY a few years back. He is now in the works to buying rights to other cities. I think his plan is to get out as soon as possible when the money is right, though. Not something he wants to do forever.

U.T. Longhorn,

Where are you thinking about opening a Chicken Express? I own a Chicken Express in Fort Worth, TX. I have been friends with the founders since I was a kid. Just wondering where you were looking.

I go to UK, Mellow Mushroom is awesome. As far as smoothie king, I love thier protein shakes, but it is very exspensive. We have one in our Gold's Gym in Lexington and it seems to do very well. I had a friend who drank one after every workout, but stopped after I told him he could buy a six month supply of protein for what he was spending there in a week. If I were to open one, I would make sure it was connected to a well established gym, and have some sort of frequent buyer discount for those people like my friend. I think you get every 10th smoothie free now, but you should get a better deal than that if you're going to spend $5 a shake.
