"I was snowed in for three weeks, just got my car out of the garage for the first time yesterday (since the Saturday before Christmas). We're all going postal here in thigh high snow. It was a weird holiday, with parties and events canceled. Unbelievable amount of snow. Never seen so much snow and it just kept coming and coming. The snowplows come through and create big, icy berms in front of our driveways, and it takes an hour to just clear the berm. I have a long driveway and I finally gave up trying to get my car out. Everybody is grumpy, lethargic, antsy. Roofs caving in...schools closed. All Walmarts have been closed because of flat roofs and the difficulty in snow removal. There was a call out on the news for hiring any able bodied people to help shovel snow from the roofs of commercial buildings. Finally, the governor called in the National Guard to shovel snow near schools. We've had almost 80 inches fall since Dec.1 and it's broken all records since they began recording in the 1800s. They're telling us to take Vitamin D, asking us to shovel sidewalks so kids can get to school. The sheriffs in all the counties surrounding Spokane closed all schools this week because they realized kids were walking on the streets and the berms of snow on the streets are taller than the kids. No snow blowers or shovels to be found in the stores, everything sold out. People were getting testy. One guy pulled a gun on a snowplow driver when he created a berm in front of his house. The dog and the cats are fighting; snow is too deep for them to go out. Kids are begging to go back to school. The thaw began yesterday, thank GOD!"
