The worst is Hue Jackson he has no idea when to go for 2 or not......No idea how to manage a game but consistently says his players are battling and he hates losing, well start managing the game like you want to win!!!!When you score a TD and are down by 9 before the extra point you take the extra point and leave yourself down 8 and hope for the onside and another score...You don't go for 2 and leave yourself down 2 scores...It cost you a chance at overtime and yet another loss.Take responsibility,he has screwed this up a few times already this year!!!

Just to elaborate on JustSplit

By kicking extra point....they cut it to 11. Need a TD with 2-pt and a FG. Can't risk leaving it at 12. Also, as it happened....Dallas got a FG....so its at 14, which is significantly better than 15.

It's the same difference.

He might have made the 2 points.

So. Cal
12 to 11
Vs
12 to 10

Absolutely no need to go for 2....however they did get a penalty in dal and could have moved it to the 1.5 for the two point conversion.....but they made the right decision, kept the point, took the 15 yards on the penalty and on sides kicked from midfield.

Everything they did was strategically correct....which is shocking for fat mccarthy

You could say....well, you've gotta get the 2-pt either now or then.

That said, going down 14 instead of 15--now you need 2 extra points. Also, it can make the other team play different on offense. Being up 9 is a lot different than being up only 8 (one possession)....Butterfly Effect in a way.

I'm very good at little strategies like that (sorry to brag lol)....played and watched way too much over the years combined with...I always know when I'm about to get screwed out of a bet I was so close to winning!!

I have always loved how perfect the scoring system is for football and how those numbers and strategies come up so often, etc.

You're talking about 'when' it's appropriate to go for 2. You have to go for 2 eventually so what's the difference?

This one could be argued forever. And from the 1'? Go for it. I needed under the 47 so I'm happy but it surprised me.

This was the worst coaching decision of the year so far

Don't go for 2 until you have to

And Mccarthy is a dummy but I'd like to think that was the correct decision...best odds at making it a 2 score game compared to 3 scores is kick the XP....

Don't go for 2 until you have to is always what I've thought makes sense...although that was when XP's were essentially a free point....now at 33 yds I'm sure the odds are closer but I'd take the much higher odds of making it a 2 score game

But hue Jackson, what a disaster.....if they kick XP and go down 8 rather then having a failed 2point conversion like they did and remain down 9, they only need 1 onside kick....which they got.....highest odds to make it a 1 score game

Huge difference

Miss the two there and your next two possessions must end in td's.

Make the 45 % two pointer or the 90% one pointer and it's still a fg or td on next two drives.
