US vs. Mexico

Game ENDS in a 0-0 tie.

What a disaster of a sport!!!! How could a game have ZERO scoring? Better yet, how could anyone watch this stuff?

90 minutes of NOTHING. And you don't even get a winner to boot!!!

If I was a fan, I would want my money back. At least when atrocities happen like this in the US (MLB all star game), we correct the problem.

it is just a different aproach americans have at the sport. The stadium is new i know but there had never been that many people there, it is popular not because of its agressivnes or its constant scoring, most people that are soccer fans like it because of it is one of the sports in which "team" means the game and in which you can get a good result without scoring, i heard a lot (here in Mexico) how it was such a great game that it was never boring, i just saw like 10 minutes and i didnt find it bboring, but i dont watch soccer games when it is not UEFA cup, World cup, Copa America or Champions League because it kinda bores me, i would rather wathc a football, basketball or baseball game, but you would be amazed how many people gets bored watching those in soccrer fan countries, so i guess it is just perception.

I enjoyed the U.S. vs. Mexico game a lot. That said, I understand why people were disappointed in that game because neither side had anything close to a top level finisher. If a world class striker like Van Nistelrooy, Raul, Owen, Ronaldo or Henry were playing, there would have been scoring, I can guarantee that.

As a football fan, the way I look at it is if people don't see the excitement of the match just because there is a possibility that there won't be any scoring, then all you can do is pity them. Yes, 0-0 final scores are a downside of football but basketball has all the timeouts in the last 2 minutes, baseball has all the time wasted between pitches and gridiron football has the boredom of TV timeouts, huddles, instant replays, etc.

Personally, I like all of those sports. I just think it is ignorant to knock any sport just because you don't understand it.

I understand it fully. That said, I still think it is extremely boring and horrible to watch on tv. I'd much rather watch bowling or billiards.

at the little kid level it cracks me up, I have 2 nephews(identical twins) who were coerced by their Mom to play soccer before they could supposedly get into any"contact" sports, I think the boys misunderstood, they play like the "Hanson" brothers' from "Slapshot", games are a scream, try not to miss any. Now if MLs was played like that, def. broaden the fan base, LOL!!

i find it funny that football(soccer for americans) is the number 1 sport for
most of the world while americans can't understand it:lol: ...the USA sees things very differently compared to the rest of the world;)

more surprising is americans like slow sports(baseball/american football) so why don't they understand soccer:shrug:

i think it's just fine that americans don't like watching soccer,
if they would propably rules would change "more tv friendly" like
periods would be 2 x 35 minutes action time and 10 minutes commercials, sudden death overtime if game is tied at the end
and most of all soccer doesn't need "baseball attitide"= two guys throwing ball to each other and third trying to hit it while rest of the guys are picking their noses ans scratching their asses ( and only half of them on the field....) .

and what must be most difficult for joe average, it needs thinking all the time, no time outs or stopping time while chancing lines or
making new game plans.

if you just watch it, you will miss it.

btw tonight should be one good game to watch Juventus-Real Madrid, i bet it's in different level of soccer compared to usa-mexico game. watch that freeze, and you just might find soccer as a very entertaining sport. ;)

Soccer is my favorite sport to watch. I am happy now that Fox Sports World covers most of the leagues around the world. It is still hard for me to catch a game that Leeds is playing in, but seeing the best in the world is worth it.

I don't understand how we Americans can HATE soccer, but love hockey. Hockey ends in ties all of the time, but no one knocks it for being 120 minutes of NOTHING.

If you really understand the game of soccer, I don't believe you could hate it. Just knowing the rules does not make one understand the game.

Real Madrid and Junentas could change some people's minds tongiht. Madris is made up of the absolute BEST players in the world and they are going to buy out Beckham in the off-season. Unbelievable.

the land of confusion
Soccer..........yeh....the sport where the better team that attacks for 90% of the game, can lose when the other team flukes a goal against the flow!! Thats if anyone scores at all!! Major Boredom!!

...but then again......I reckon you can add basketball to the list of 'snorzeville sports'. Just scrap the whole game and play out the extra time for a result!!!
