Finally, the SS (=Spreadsheet) has enough data to spit out some college ball picks. I wrote PLENTY about it last season and, after spending MANY hours getting it ready, I'm too tired to go through that again.

Been using this thing to find ATS wieners for about 5 years now and it's had some GREAT seasons in the past. Whatever the case, iit USUALLY beats my personal plays.... so here goes:

Army -1: Yeah, for whatever reason, it does like "low profile" type teams. Like, not teams that are popular. It STRICTLY goes by some SERIOUS number crunching and that means it doesn't know the difference (in popularity) between ..... . say, a Notre Dame and a Fla. International.

Iowa -14

Vandy + 14 1/2

Zona +21.5 (it just LUVS this play)

Notre Dame -6 Well, what do ya know? :0

Minny even moola Below I got something to say about this play.

Akron +32: I was glad to see it pick this one. I am pretty familiar with the Vols. and I cannot believe they can spot just about ANY A1 squad this many pts. WAY overrated IMO.

That should do it for this week. Like I wrote last year - I'll be going easy on these early season picks cause the SS should get better and better as the season progresses. It uses data from EVERY week and EVERY oponnent each team has faced (this season, of course) for it's weekly selection. I made this thang sooo complicated (tweaking it and all) that I don't know how it makes it's picks any more. It also calculates a "fair" line for each game and I take that into account when assessing it's picks.

Oh, that Minnesota pick - I couldn't resist making a few plays ON MY OWN for the last two weeks (small parlays). My results have been unreal. I played 5 parlays, mixed sports (one U.S. Open Tennis play + 1 basebawl stab + 2 college FB plays). The last two had an NFLer instead of a tennis player cause the Open was over (How bout that there Murray fella .. $$$$ :) ). So far, WITHOUT the SS, I hit 3 of these 4 teamers. I couldn't decide whether or not to pick my own or go with the sheet for this football season.
Bottom line is - my own best play woulda been Minnesota this week (I also like Arkansas; thems playing Rutgers).

Good Luck, and I HOPE you see this "Six/Five" (he requested that I post the SS picks again this season). IF it does good, thank him.

Couldn't make myself play Iowa, but did hit army first half and game.

I really like Vandy... How strong are they on ur sheet? Also does it predict scores? What kind of score does it have for the Arizona game if it does? Thanks!

Sorry, I don't keep up to well with this forum and didn't see your questions, 6/5. Had to really dig way down to fish this thing up. That ain't a good thing.

It doesn't predict scores; it does provide a "calculated spread" for each game though. Don't ask how it does it cause it is SUPER confusing/complicated. OVER complicated I'm sure, but when it continually started to come close to the real spread and based that no. on IT"S formulas - I just left that part alone. I'll post it's "calculated spread" forya if I remember to in the future. It usually does come close, like within 2 pts, of the real line. There was one game this week where it predicted a spread that was almost 10 (yeah, TEN) pts. different. I can't remember which game it was; I DO run ALL the games every week. It's probably due to an injured key player and the SS doesn't know about them things. I don't go too much by it's calculated spreads.

That Arizona game was something else... 6 times in the red zone and came back with zippo points TOTAL for all 6 times. What a crazy game that was. Not going to make excuses for the SS, but I sure do forgive it for making that pick cause they moved the ball with ease, just no dang points to show for it. Of course, the last part of that game was ALL Ducks, but I think Zona's defense just gave up before all that happened. You know, like "why should I risk my limbs and run my ass off for the offense to come on the field , run the ball up the field and come back with no points EVERY TIME".

Army's game was kinda weird as well, sorry bout that one, 6/5. I knew that Army was a one sided (runners) team but didn't realize that Wake was as well. The sheet considers BOTH air and ground performances for each team and that maybe isn't effective for teams like that. I think I'll leave out games that have a one sided (especially if it's a ground game) approach from now on. I think the SS has done poorly with teams like Army, Navy, etc. in the past. .

Vandy? Man, was that terrible or what? Sometimes it's good to get a play like that "out of your system" so to speak. I really should look into why the SS made that pick but I wound up making that SS sooo dang complicated, I dread doing that. It's actually OVER complicated I think, but I ain't changing what's worked pretty good in the past.

Personally, I make small parlays with the plays; it usually works for me. That means that I'm not going to post my/SS's cumulative record as the season goes on because my record will differ from just playing the picks as single plays. . I'm not out to prove anything, just share the work results with the forum members.

RIGHT NOW, I don't know how the sheet did yesterday. I'll be back real soon to report what it's record is for THIS WEEK .
Thanks for the reply, SixFive.

Hammy - hope you're doing well. Looks like you gave up on the horsie forum as well. :(

Stick around, SixFive. :)

OK, I'm back... looks like 3 wieners/4 losahs. Damn, damn, damn.. I went through MANY hours like this
when I just coulda just done this in minutes :00011
FLUCK! :s2:

I think it will pick up as the season progresses; NOBODY would believe how it did for the Bowl games a few years ago.. just ABSOLUTELY unbelievable. IF I played all them games with more $$$, I'd be rich. Never gonna see results like that again in anything (well, maybe hosses :)

Lastly (promise), SixFive, can you play TEAM TOTALS? I've always had success with them .

Thanks for really having an interest with this thang.
