"To me, this fight is about equality and human rights," Kluwe recently told CNN. "The fact is, there are Americans who pay taxes and serve in our military -- who defend this country -- who do not receive the same legal protections as the rest of us. To me, that's flat-out discrimination. That's the same as segregation or suffrage."

"I've always relished breaking that stereotype of the dumb jock athlete because while I enjoyed athletics growing up, I also enjoyed reading and video games, and athletic sport is not what defines me as a person," Kluwe told OUT's Cyd Zeigler. "I think as more and more generations start rising through the NFL, a lot of these kids see that it's OK to be something other than an athlete."

"I will defend to the death your right to say or do whatever you want, as long as it does not oppress other people," he said assertively to CNN. Kluwe has backed that up, taking on what he believes to be the backward views of those in and out of the NFL.

I can assure you that gay people getting married will have zero effect on your life. They won't come into your house and steal your children ... They won't even overthrow the government in an orgy of hedonistic debauchery because all of a sudden they have the same legal rights as the other 90 percent of our population?rights like Social Security benefits, child care tax credits, Family and Medical Leave to take care of loved ones, and COBRA healthcare for spouses and children. You know what having these rights will make gays? Full-fledged American citizens just like everyone else, with the freedom to pursue happiness and all that entails. Do the civil-rights struggles of the past 200 years mean absolutely nothing to you?

"Citizens united -- corporations are not people," he told CNN. "And if you look at our current election, we're spending over a billion dollars to decide who our next president is going to be, and to me, that says that money has an overriding influence in our politics right now."

Hedge, if only you could voice your opinion as eloquently as Kluwe did, you might have a solid argument, but "Gays are gross," or "Fags are going to hell," doesn't quite cut it.

I think he makes very valid points and its cool seeing an athlete who most people look up to express love for other human beings, because whether you want to admit it, are just that, human beings.

Let me take a leap of faith and guess why hedgy posted this.

"Vikings are bunch of homos."

On a side note, I wonder how many times hedgy will have that stare on his mind as he sleeps tonight?

Damn it

I thought Hedge turned over a new kumquat leaf

Hedge - Prove both of their asses wrong by proclaiming to be an advocate for equal treatment of all human beings and a pledge to shun those too ignorant to support individual rights in the 21st fucking century.

Just quote my post and put a :0074

I think he is a top 5 punter in the league. He has a strong leg but sometimes out kicks his coverage but glad he has been on this team for a long time now.

:0074 That is all that matters is my point, who gives a shit what he believes, there are fans on both sides of the issue, players and businesses should keep their mouths shut about social issues

HELL
You really should have included Nole and Ponch in the subject line too. I am sure Noley would have an opinion to all this.

yep that is what makes America great, not being able to express your beliefs

on another note, it was probably smart to edit the matt birk jersey out of the post yesterday given he was justifying his stance against gay marriage on the basis of the Catholic church, like they are cool w rampant forcible sex between man and boy but sex between 2 consenting males is way out of the question--just saying :SIB

So Kluwe should STFU, but it?s ok for simpletons like yourself to go on raging tangents worrying that the half-time show at a Super Bowl is going to be too ?gay? for your tastes?

Tying in another thread/topic, it is obvious the only thing you are ?rich? in is bigotry and being hypocritical.

Where it is real F ing COLD
Kluwe really started to speak out when some politician expressed his beliefs. Kluwe has challenged several politicians on the subject. Kluwe has a website and he talks about those issues there

I don't play football, nor a celebrity (except for here ;) ) and these forums are for opinions, like me or not I am not bashful in what I believe

I do not agree with the alternative lifestyle, at least the getting married part, I could care less if someone are gay to be honest...and I am entitled to my opinion...at least I have the guts to speak my mind  all this bullshit progressive agenda and pushing liberal ideals, I simply disagree...
