For those who call for further punishment to Penn State University for the Jerry Sandusky tragedy, it's time for some perspective.

The former football coach, Joe Paterno, was fired, is dead and disgraced.

The university president was fired and is under investigation.

A former university vice president and the former athletic director are under investigation.

The university, trashed publicly, is forever tarnished.

The alumni, fans and former players are stunned and devastated.

The university and its athletic programs have lost tens of millions of dollars.

The rippling effect of the criminal behavior of one man, Jerry Sandusky, now behind bars for the rest of his life, has taken an ominous and incalculable toll on the entire Penn State University community on and off campus.

To punish the university and all those associated with it further is overkill.

There has been enough suffering by all the victims of one deranged man.

Let the new president, new athletic director, new football coach and current and future football players begin anew.

Even those who suffered the most, Sandusky's innocent victims, would no doubt not only agree but encourage vigorously such a course.

The lessons learned from this tragic episode will never be forgotten.

There is nothing to be gained in prolonging the suffering.

Enough is enough.

Let there be healing and a new beginning.

Maybe sixfive can remember the thread where buddy said "god is judging her for her actions" and that is why she is dying. The poster (who I can't remember his username) started a thread about his wife crying and how her friend was dying. The poster was asking for help with consoling his wife (and her friend) and buddy comes in with the "god is punishing her" bullshit.
