ESPN, NFL Network, posts from here and Rx.

People trying to compare Big Ben to Manning and Brady. The guy might have 2 SB but he shouldn't be mentioned in the same class as those 2

I wouldn't expect anything less there Jack..

:mj07:

this goes back to a discussion earlier in the year. I said Big Ben was a "winner," He finds ways to win and although his stats don't justify him being in the Brady or Manning classification, the fact is, he wins big games when they count.

Hopefully week 16 everyone will be at full strength.

and round and round we go...

and round and round we go...

I didn't say he was better than Manning...which part of my last post did you not understand?

Infact I did take 5 min to google if Roth had ever come back from 17th pts in the 4th qtr. You are correct on that.

He deserves to be mentioned with elite qbs because he wins not just football games, but big football games. :director: I repeat he is NOT better than Manning....
No I wouldn't pick him for my fantasy football team normally, but he's a damn good qb.

Granted this is from August but I'm not way off base here.

Bottom line is...
The Colts would suck without Manning
Steelers would be fine without Ben. Hell Manning and Brady throw the ball 50 times a game, don't they benefit from THEIR system?

Here is some easy reading for you, don't reply I don't care...

NFL records
Most regular season wins in a season, rookie QB ? 13 (2004) [83]
Longest regular season win streak to start a career for a NFL QB ? 15 games (won all 13 starts in the 2004 season, won first 2 games of the 2005 season)[84]
Most wins as a starting quarterback in first five NFL seasons (reg. season only) - 51 (from 2004-2008)[32]
Highest passer rating, rookie season ? 98.1 (2004)[85]
Highest completion percentage, rookie season ? 66.4% (2004)[85]
Most games with a completion percentage of 80.0% or higher, regular season (min. 10 attempts) ? 4 (2007)[86]
(Tie) Most touchdown passes, Monday Night Football game ? 5 (11/5/2007 vs. Baltimore Ravens) [84]
First QB to start two Conference Championship games in first two seasons in the NFL (2004 & 2005)[84]
Youngest starting QB ever to win the Super Bowl (2005; second-youngest QB to play in the Super Bowl, behind Dan Marino)[87]
Roethlisberger became the second quarterback in NFL history, along with Peyton Manning, to register three perfect passing games during the regular season, and the only quarterback to ever register two perfect passing games in one regular season. [84]

Tied for most seasons with one or more postseason starts in the first five years in the league since 1960, with four starts (tied with Bernie Kosar, Donovan McNabb, and Eli Manning).[89]

whether anyone likes it or not Big Ben would be no better than Matt Cassel withouth that amazing defense he has had his entire career.

Wasn't this already discussed earlier this year? Give it up man.. His defense is great but they didn't drive the team the length of the field and hit a triple covered wide receiver in the back of the end zone to win the super bowl with 30 seconds left.. Just because you have him on your fantasy team and he didn't put up Brees, Manning, or Brady numbers for you this year doesn't mean he is a bad QB. He has 2 rings man! :142smilie :mj07: :142smilie

i'm so sick of this argument. Livin'tillthEnd & Play2Win, you nailed it. in this world where fantasy football is king, people have a skewed view of what it takes to win football games. pure and simple, anybody who doesn't consider ben roethlisberger an 'elite' quarterback, doesn't know jack shit about football. the man is a winner. name one elite receiver he's had to work with? or even an elite running back to take pressure off the passing game? jerome bettis at the end of his career? please. his offensive line has been awful the last few years, he's had an old jerome bettis and willie parker in the backfield, and hines ward as his top receiver. but time after time, he has won football games.

dennis dixon looked "pretty amazing" last night? what game were you watching? an old oregon highlight reel?

oh, and most good teams/quarterbacks don't find themselves down 17 in the fourth quarter.

and no, this isn't a personal attack on anybody, so don't get all bent out of shape. just because you don't understand football doesn't make you a bad person.

wow. I guess the colts suck because they give up points.

Dixon played AMAZING yes AMAZING for being not on the team a week ago. tell me you've seen a better performance in that circumstance from a new QB.

Santonio Holmes and Hines Ward are not elite? what planet are you on? They may not have the numbers due to the traditional running team Pitt is but they are clutch when the Steelers needed them.
