The same problem they have had for years and now this year it is really getting exposed... their corners are awful. Ike Taylor gets pub and I dont know why he is downright bad and Gay well I cant even comment on him. If the Blitz isnt getting close to the QB then the corners on this team get exposed. They have no corner and they havent for years that they can put out there and shut someone down. How many teams at this point in the NFL dont have an interception by their corners?
Another problem that is becoming well known is their inability to put games away. They let bad teams hang around way too much.
They need to force feed the ball to Mendenhall and they just dont. When they do try and run late in games they line up tight and defenses put 11 guys in the box cuz they know its coming. They dont run screens anymore which are safe and effective ways to keep the clock moving when you need to throw.
I could go all night from what I see but I wont. I could be way off but that is how I feel.
The Steelers are up to thier necks in the gambling world and they are making the book all kinds of profit the last few weeks. Next time they have a real tough opponenet bet the house on the black and gold.
I disagree about forcefeeding Mendy. All defenses stuff the line, and the Steelers are too stupid to throw on 1st down. They did it once with purpose and got a long TD to Holmes. Ben is their best weapon and they need to let him go 5 wide more and call plays. I won't even start about the D. You are right about the pass rush. Everyone wants to hang it on the secondary, but without pressure any secondary is toast. Harrison hasn't done sh it the past 4 weeks and that hurts. Anyway... I'm a huge cheesehead fan tonight, kill the RATS !!!
Well let me disagree with your assertion that the steelers are too stupid to throw on first down as in fact they are ranked 8th in the NFL in 1st down passing this year. Their run-pass percentage is 48%-52%. The problem is they throw out of spread formations and run out of the tight formations which makes them very predictable and they never run out of their spread formations so the defense isnt looking for it. Their play action game suffers as well because when they use it out of the tight formation there is usually only one receiver and 3 te's on the field.
The more Mendenhall touches the more chance of something good happening in their offense. He sets up the play action and he is actually a decent receiver and that is my point. Get him the ball in space more instead of just lining up tight and trying to ram it down their throats. Whatever happened to spreading the defense and getting some guys out of the box and running the ball? They dont seem to have that set anymore.
As for the defense there is going to be games when the pass rush doesnt get there and you have to be able to cover someone and they cant cover anyone. I dont put the blame on Harrison at all as he is double teamed and chipped about every play and that is not even counting how many times he gets held a game...
