3 Secs...

Nothing to do with today's action, but as a long term I am heavy in RHGP. Several people will hesitate on this, but for long term and potential I took the risk.

Caveat: Research it first, see if it fits in your portfolio before pulling trigger. Not a short term "buy".

Auto Handout from Fed Likely, Says Keycorp
Shares of Ford (F) were up as much as 42 cents, or 30%, this afternoon, to a session high of $1.85, amid speculation that the Fed?s handout to Citigroup (C) presages some similar bailout of Detroit. Ford has asked for loans of between $7 billion and $8 billion to prevent its going under, you?ll recall, which seems a pittance beside the $20 billion in fresh capital put into Citi. Shares of General Motors (GM) are up 19 cents, or 6.21% at $3.25. Support for hope comes from a report today cited by Briefing.com from Keycorp?s (KEY) Keybanc unit, which report says that investors should look to auto parts makers Autoliv (ALV), ArvinMetritor (ARM) and Lear (LEA) to benefit as ?there is a high probability that the Federal Government will ?bail out? GM, Ford and Chrysler in December.? Briefing says the Keybanc report is encouraged by the U.S. Congress?s request last week that automakers provide a ?plan for viability.? Autoliv, ArvinMeritor, and Lear are up 7%, 20%, and 15% today, respectively.

That Citigroup bailout is a disgrace. We essentially bailed out greedy Middle East royalty. Disgusting.

I'm gonna take some modest profits on AAPL and ADM in the last 5 minutes. Tomorrow is probably a profit-taking day.

LEA could help the Holiday season for us! :mj06: I am holding until December like the information states and hopefully the expected bailouts happen!

However, can we now focus on my 401k and other plans....

Excerpt from the link that Vinnie posted:

President-elect Barack Obama, in a news conference Monday, said the government should support the auto industry but can't give it a blank check.

He said he was surprised that the Detroit Three CEOs didn't have a better proposal when they appeared before Congress.

"I think that the auto industry needs to present us with some clarity in terms of the dollar figures they're talking about, but more importantly, are they describing for us an auto industry that is focused on retooling, understands that we're entering into a new energy economy that is going to be competitive globally," Obama said. "That's the kind of plan that the American people I think want to see."

I can't say it is justified, any of the bailouts, but do not see a better option for all. Don't think anyone has a crystal ball on this one.

You made some money on ADM, and what they did with the citric acid bueinss as of late was disturbing to all manufacturers, but I get why they did it!

I hear ya. It's a bitter pill though. I don't think it's good in the long view though. Everyone is too afraid of some short term struggle - but that is reality. It doesn't create a healthy investment environment.

totally agree, and this taking these short term opportunitites to attempt to offset some other longer term losses.

When someone loses, somebody else typically is winning. Now if I was living in Detroit, worked for the auto industry, or any of the suppliers I would certainly be wanting good news.

But, you are absolutely correct, it is hard to determine long term or anything in the investment communit as of late or immediate future.

But let's hope we all get a few gems in the meantime.
