ACTC - The sleeping giant

Whether one is an investor here in Albuquerque or somewhere in South Korea, one is starting to hear the news of Advanced Cell Technology (ACTC.OB). As one sits back and ponders the recent events from the winter of 2010 till now a famous quote from the Second World War comes to mind, ?I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant." Now the origins of this quote have been debated, but for this circumstance it does not matter if it was uttered by the famous Japanese Admiral Yamamoto or mistranslated by the American press of the 1940?s. ACTC is now that sleeping giant and much like the American military machine in the mid 1940?s, it will awaken, mobilize, and crush is competition in a matter of time. Currently used medicines and methods will be cast off as the new stem cell procedures will not just mask the symptoms, but go to the heart of the medical issue and cure it. At that point the ACTC giant will be awaken and unstoppable. Let?s see what current events have stirred this giant and how the wheels are in motion for it impending arrival.
The first, and most important event, happened in late 2010 with the FDA granting two approvals for tests with human embryonic stem cells. These tests are to treat people with a progressive form of blindness called Stargardt's macular dystrophy and dry age-related macular degeneration. Today, the FDA has only granted three approvals which two are ACTC?s and the last one belonging to a company by the name Geron for spinal cord injuries. This was the break ACTC needed and now with their foot in the door they will let the science speak for itself. The animal tests done were a smashing success so chances are good the can be duplicated on a human subject. ACTC considers this arena low hanging fruit with a market worth $25-$30 billion, which would generate more than enough cash to fund the bigger more ambitious projects. The giant is awake, now time to mobilize.
For the mobilization of the company, the best way to view it is by looking at recent titles of articles. There have been so many news articles and reports that trying to summarize them all would not be scalable. Below here are lists of the articles that show how the company is taking its first steps to establish itself as a global player and powerhouse.
Each one of these news article above when viewed by themselves is positive, but when you analyze them all at once they take on a much more significant meaning. For example, storage and distribution via the Roslin Institute addresses how the company plans to tackle the demand issues that will arise. The positive European opinion shows the company starting to make is claims into Europe and its markets. Being issued patents in China also shows ACTC making its way into the biggest player in Asia. Finally the speech in Korea annotates the current agreements ACTC has with South Korea. Now step back and put the pieces together and one can see a company slowly setting up the network it needs to go global. Mobilization is in process with much more to come.

The final piece of the puzzle, the crush of the competition, will not happen until the science is proved. At the time of this article ACTC trades at $0.19 a share. With all the above mentioned good news one would think that number should be higher. The issue here is stem cells are a new and uncharted world when it comes to treating major medical problems. Most investors, whether big or small, want the proof first. They would rather invest in ACTC at $2-$3 with the proof in hand than take a chance at $0.19. If ACTC science works, that is exactly what is going to happen. If the first tests here in the U.S. work according to plan, here is very plausible scenario of how ACTC future might look. The ACTC trials are a smashing success and macular degeneration becomes a thing of the past. ACTC being too small will not be able to handle the demand and will have to do a joint venture with a much larger company. Being already spread across the globe in some capacity, ACTC might even get 2-3 partners to handle the different regions of the world. Do not worry, the companies will be there to partner as ACTC had just made void (crushed) all the current treatments and medications involved with this medical condition. As the revenue flows in the stock price will make major moves up and ACTC will get their wish to be traded on the NASDAQ. Larger investment houses that could not trade ACTC will join the fray and options will start trading. The new found money from the partners, plus the possible release of federal funding that was just announced, will be ample to fund the more lucrative projects in ACTC?s vaults. The Hemangioblast Cell Program now becomes fully funded and ACTC moves into the trials. If successful there then ACTC will now join the fray of all the vascular and blood products companies. Also the Myoblast Program gets fully funded and moves quickly into trials. If successful there then ACTC?s stem cells become the standard for such medical conditions as heart attacks, Cardiovascular disease (CVD), and Congestive Heart Failure (CHF). The numbers become so large at this point its hard to fathom, for example CVD figures stand at close to 80 million people alone. In the U.S. alone, there are 5 million people with CHF and there are about 500,000 new cases each year. Current treatments will be tossed out in favor of the better stem cell procedures. Once again the competition will be crushed.
If this all comes to pass then Albuquerque investors will have had quite a ride. The ride will have lasted for several years, but the profits will be well worth the wait, plus the new treatments will benefit generations for centuries to come.

For the above stated reasons the author is long shares of ACTC.

There are two stocks that I keep hearing that are going to have a fall soon. One I told Jack about last week, and it has subsequently went up ~40%.

The first one is HWAY and the one that is up 40% in recent time.

The other is TSON which is on a tear of late. Supposedly setting up for a big disappointment based on Q2 numbers.

No recommendations on these. Just passing along FYI.

I've taken a pretty nice beating this week, about 10% total, both accounts combined.

Thank God I didn't get caught in the silver trading because a lot of people got and are getting slaughtered.

They raise the margin on silver, people are forced to sell and the market tanks. A big freaking snowball. They raised it again after hours so maybe this isn't over just yet. Who knows?

I'm thinking today's job report is already priced in so unless it's really, really bad, I think most of the bleeding has stopped. If it's a good report....

Right now the dow futures are showing +20 but that can change any time.

I'm looking at silver futures and that still doesn't look good at all. When all the margin calls are overwith, the blood bath ends, IMO. Hopefully today!

I could use a good day for CAT and F to end this shit week.

And what's the big problem with oil dropping? Everybody was all pissed and worried when it was going UP, now they are pissed and worried it's going DOWN. WTF?

Just some of my rookie thoughts and opinions.

Good luck!

OH, and when silver starts back up? I wanna get me some of that ride, that for should :0008

Hey Jack,
Silver turning a bit after being oversold and earnings should be good as well. I've been playing options for 15 to 20 years and they can be VERY tough but when ya hit ya can hit big... best is to buy stocks, write the puts and calls and collect the $$$.
Congrats on beating the butts. Best move I ever made and I could not have done it without support from MJs. 10 years now...
Best
