I had that xoom site for about 3 months and decided to get my own domain. I got a gal I knew from the AOL stocks chatroom to build me a website. A REAL site It turns out that Meg also was the girl that started the shrink?s site too. Small world, huh?
I think it took her about a week and she had my site ready. I went ?live? on May 10, 1998. Yeeha!!
It was live for about 2 days when I asked swami if he would like to be a guest capper here. He agreed and swami started posting his plays daily on madjacks. He?s still here 3 years later. I think swami has been more dependable for posting his picks daily than I have. Thanks swami! Class guy!!
Next came the unholycow. Which reminds me??.where the hell are ya, cow? We have bases to cap here and people have been looking for you. Cow has been around for close to 3 years too. He has provided great plays and many, many laughs. He?s one of a kind and has a home here at madjacks for as long as he wants it. We all love ya, cow! And hurry back!
Let?s see. We had me, swami, and cow. Next, I opened a message forum. It was the old style forum like wagertalk. I guess we had that sucker up for about a year. It got some pretty decent action. I guess we had about 100 posts a day on there after about 6 moths or so. I started meeting a lot of good people from that forum too. One of the first guys that started posting regularly on that forum was BIG MAC. remember him? What a character he was. I talked to him almost every day on the phone. He was trying to build a pay for picks site and I let him come aboard as a guest handicapper. He posted his free selections on madjacks and referred his visitors to his pay site. The big mouth BIG MAC. I miss you buddy. Rest in peace, Pat
Not long after, I met a guy that called himself Investment Executive. This guy was amazing. He must have posted 50 posts a day. Posts that were LOADED with game info, game stats, handicapping ideas, weather, umpires, you name it, he posted it. He brought a TON of good information with him. If you needed info on anything about anything you asked IE and within seconds, there was the link. Mr. Information was IE. THAT FOR SHOULD! I asked IE if he would be a guest capper, he accepted and the rest is history. Me and IE have become good close friends since. IE is a very important ingredient to the success of madjacksports. Thanks for everything you?ve done to help us get where we are today. You da man!
I?m going to try and remember some of the ?key? guys that contributed information to the old forum. If I miss you, I?m sorry and as I remember people later on, I?ll add to these posts later.
Tiger- what can I say about THIS guy. He has been a hall of fame madjacks member for nearly the entire time we?ve been online. He came around the time IE did. He became a guest handicapper and posted his daily forum recap way back when. He provided excellent plays with analysis, he pointed out the handicappers that were hot, he posted information on the forum. He helped me with anything I asked. He ran contests and he did it all. Tiger is still here and hope he?s here forever. Class guy all the way.
Some more guys that were key to madjacks success way back then. Scuba ran lots of contests. Where the hell are ya scuba?
Loophole- he?s been here from the get go as well. You guys KNOW that when loophole talks you listen. I met loophole in Vegas at madjacks 1st annual superbowl weekend in vegas. Super guy and a guy I consider a good friend. He?s another one that will go out of his way to help out. Thanks for all that you have contributed to this site, loop. I can?t wait for football so you?ll be active here once again.
dogs that bark- look up ?gentleman? in the dictionary and there you see his pic. He?s the guy that talked me into using the present forum format that we use today. One of the best decisions I ever made about this site.
It didn?t go over too well at the beginning with the regulars but it caught on and I?m sure they all like it better this way now. When we went to this format for the forum the site took off. It grew in leaps. Hits came piling in. the place just grew and grew and grew.
So now we have me, IE, swami, cow, tiger and the new forum. We added 2 more guest cappers. Deuce and cherry picker. Those guys both contributed for about a year. Don?t know what happened to them but will always remember they had a part in building this site to what it is now.
I have to start getting more brief. We have over 2500 forum members so I can?t write something about them all. Sorry about that.
To be continued?..
