since fletcher is having trouble finding us a 'private' location in vegas for the next party, let's hear some ideas on alternate locations.

i'm SURE we can find other places in the U.S. for a hellava lot less money and a hellava lot better.

I wouldn't go back to Sunset if they offered it for free.

some nice resort hotel in the south, midwest, northwest, east, the beaches, the mountains a big city, golf resorts, ski resorts, whatever.

let's hear some ideas.

thanks,

The place Kosar stayed at when he was in Dallas is pretty damn nice and hosts weddings all the time so I'm sure it has big rooms, but you'll have to ask him what it's called. It was in the Las Colinas area, that's all I remember. Just an idea to throw out there. Sure beats Wisconsin winters, anyway!

As much as I'd like it to be in the D/FW area, I have to admit, New Orleans sounds like a pretty prime location.

ie,

foxwoods is nice but i think a warmer place with gambling would attract more people.

bj, new orleans is a great place but wonder what the costs are ?

there is a place on the nevada/ arizona border called laughlin.

never been there but do have casinos & is right near a lake.

does anybody know anything about this place ?

vegas is good and everything but it's always been a hassle for people to get flights AND rooms for that weekend. AND, it's too expensive for a lot of people.

we'll still do vegas if fletcher can work it out but he's really running into problems for that weekend this coming year.

Laughlin is very cheap. They have the deals etc. that Vegas use to have to attract people. Lots of gambling there and rooms are dirt cheap. Laughlin also has real small table limits as well. I do not think it would be expensive to rent out big ball room for the party. Especially since laughlin is sorta known for the "older" crowd which may not have too many private rooms booked for super bowl parties.

New Orleans would be the best city. In fact, I am leaving next week to spend 5 days there. But it is also expensive and prob. be very crowded. Only 1 casino there as well but plenty of bars! Great food too!

One of the last times I was in Vegas, I remember the local TV stations all got cut into because there was a biker shootout inside a casino in Laughlin. Apparently that particular weekend there was some huge bike rally and some rival gangs crossed paths in a casino. That's my limited exposure to Laughlin.

i would say Vegas, but thats because I allready booked my hotel.

Rio had a great deal for $149 for 3 nights. I dont know if its still available though. I went through one of the TimeShare programs though, so thats probably why it was a great deal.

Indy and Cincy have the riverboat gambling. I would think either of the cities would have plenty of other options as well. Golf might be a bit chilly though.

Hey, we could have a MadJack's Bowling Tournament! Western Bowl in Cincy is huge and could handle the tournament with no problem.

A large hotel in either city would probably have the rooms available. Not many folks thinking of going to either city to watch the Superbowl(unless Indy makes it.....yeah right Cincy :) )

Just my .02.
