superbowl party. i finally made it back.

the party was great. big thanks to fletcher. man! there is no way we could have a party like that without your help. thanks a million. big thanks to ferdville as well for helping fletch with setup the day of the party. glad i finally got a chance to talk to you too ferd, although i don't have a good memory of the party after around halftime.

i drank wayyyyyyyyyyy too much at the party and the kicker was some special drink the bartender was making for me after the game. i think i chugged down about 6 of those. whoa! i'm glad not too many people saw me in the casino that night.

once again i didn't take notes so i know i'll forget a lot of things and sorry if i forget to mention somebody. i was walking in circles trying to get to talk to everybody for at least a few minutes. i think i made all the rounds at the party. i probably didn't see 3 minutes of the game. all i know is i lost my pats bet and i found out the score the next day.

it was good to see all the folks that have been before and really nice to meet the newbies to the party. i hope everybody and more make it next year.

there were something like 800 drinks poured so i'm sure i wasn't the only one wasted

i'll get some pics posted next week when i get back to maryland. my wife took a lot of pics but the flash wasn't working on every shot so our pics turned out bad too. some too dark, too many red eyes, etc, but i'll get them posted when i get the chance.

the time went so fast (thursday thru tuesday) and the wife and i weren't ready to come back as planned on tuesday so we took a ride to the venetian and stayed another day. an expensive one at the tables too, but that's another story. at least the room was comped. LOL

thanks to all that helped and all that showed up. it was the best one yet. i'll post a day by day of our trip as i get the time.

day 1 - thursday

this is easy so thought i'd get it outta the way.

flight was to leave indy at 330.

found a parking spot easy, got the shuttle easy, curb side check in no line, no line or hassles going thru security and went to the gate area all in a matter of minutes.

no sooner than we sat at fox's sports bar then kosar comes strolling up and yells for me to order him a hotdog. lunch was nice, i guess. 2 dogs, chili for kosar and whatever else he had, a beer for me and coffee for my wife and 30 some bucks later, we're off to the plane and the flight.

flight was boring and uncomfortable as usual (not enough leg room for me) but we made it in about 3 hours and 45 minutes.

kosar grabbed a sedan for the trip to sunset and we made it there in about 30 minutes.

kosar and us each got a suite. kinda nice but over priced, imo. there was a roomy living room with a real bar (unstocked), sofa, love seat, chair, 35" tv, a small dining area near the bar and a half bath. separate br had a king bed and another 35" tv a desk and chair with a view of the mall acrossed the street. the master bath was huge with double sinks a vanity and counter that stretched at least 15 feet or so, jacuzzi tub and glassed in shower. real nice. a lot of soaps, oils, shampoos, conditioners, even tooth brushes and tooth paste. you name it, they had it. we always take that chit home, so it was thrown right into the suitcases.

we relaxed a bit, visited with kosar a bit, the wife got freshened up and the 3 of us headed downstairs for dinner. we ate at the steakhouse. dinner was real good. gayle had the rib eye and kosar and i each had the ny strip (house speciality). we all had the salad that came with the meal and it was excellent! hell, even the baked potato was above average. i highly recommend the place but don't remember the name. :shrug:

i'll continue day one a little later tonight.

sooooo anyway......

we finish dinner and head back to the rooms. i guess i'm in the room for about 20 minutes and get a call from loophole. "let's hook up, man. we'll meet at the center bar in 20 minutes".

i call kosar, relax for 10 and head over to kosar's room across the hall. my wife decides to stay in the room for awhile and maybe for the night. i meet kosar, he pours me a stiff one, we down them and head down to meet loop.

we're down there for a bit and here comes loophole and his wife. we drink for an hour or so and talk about everything, then i get a call from dad. he'll be there just as soon as he checks into his room. he's in the lobby. about 20 minutes later it's the 5 of us boozing it up and talking away. during our visit i notice senor capper in the bar and yell for him to come over. he's working so can't drink and can't stay long but it was good to see him again. for some reason he's usually one of the first guys i run into every year. :shrug:

so we carry on until about 330am when we all decide to call it a night.

no table action for me on the first day but a good first day none the less.

day 2 .....

actually, it was closer to 230am when we left the bar on the first night. i was asleep about 30 seconds after my head hit the sack. i woke up and looked over at the tv and the time said 745am. i thought to myself "cool, got me about 5 hours sleep!", so i got up and headed straight for the shower. showered, dressed, coffee and i'm ready to go. i'll let the wife sleep in and get a couple hours of table play in. so i look at my cell phone for the time and it's 6am. WTF?! well, the time i saw on tv was eastern time. is that the standard or what? i figured they would have pacific time but nooooo. so i just went from 5 hours of sleep to 2 hours of sleep. i'm starting to feel tired again. geez. LOL

so i call eddie (my sister's hubby) to see what's up on their end and they're (ed, dad and sister) are in the coffee house eating. my father mentions poker and that reminds me of daily poker tourneys that sunset offers and i call the poker room for more details. they have a tourney starting at 11am, NL holdem, $25 buyin but have to register at 9:00 because it fills up early. i call dad and he's interested and i know the wife will be so i start making some noise around the room to wake her

i wait around for gayle to get ready and we go down to register then kill a couple hours getting comp cards activated and messing around with the slots. :shrug:

"WHEEL OF FORTUNE" christ! i STILL hear that in my head, and the tune too!

welp. we sit to play the tourney and we weren't playing for 5 minutes and i see my father get up from his table and walk over to mine. i asked what happened and he was out. lmao. my father was the first player eliminated. byw, there are 40 players in the tourney and they have one $10 rebuy in the first hour. dad bought his before play started.

i went out after about 40 minutes. i had one decent hand when i flopped a straight with KJ in the hole and lost to a river flush that left me short stacked. i went out when i went all in on the BB with pocket 4's. was called by pocket 8's and the tourney was history for me. i checked on the wife and she's sitting pretty good so i head for the blackjack tables.

nothing eventful to report about the BJ session. i bought in for $500 and i played for about 3 hours and had a roller coaster ride ending up $200 on the downside. i did see loophole walking by during the session and he sat down for about a half hour so that was cool.

so i go back to the poker room looking for the wife and she's STILL IN AND AT THE FINAL TABLE! VERY COOL!!

there were 9 left and she was about 7th in chips. she played for about 45 minutes and finally went out in 4th place when her K9 s was beat by 87 off :shrug: i guess i brought her some of the luck i have. LOL but 4th was great. it paid her $170 and she was all pleased. i was too!

Dam Jack, when I left I was thinking you were on your way to tieing a good one on:drinky: ...and that was before the 6 shooter I bet we had the exact same kinda night. IX Bender could probably 2nd that ...Once again, it was a great time and look forward to being there next year, think I'll even make it more of a last 2nd decision ....but show up with Fly.
