i ran survivor and got a pleasant surprise when the winners collectively entered me into another survivor pool

didn't expect it..i dislike when others tell me what i should do with my winnings

on a kind of related note, i especially hate when im playing live poker and i win a pot and some asshole at the table asks me "aren't you gonna tip the dealer?"(not saying that I never tip)

To all of the guys that were in the pool that just ended in a 5-way split, I would like to say something.

First off, congratulations for going an entire season in the pool.

Secondly, and most importantly, it is common courtesy to give (tip) the person that takes his or her time to run the pool, deal with all of the cash, all of the headaches, all of the bitching, all of the moaning for their efforts. After all, there wouldn't be any money to be won if it wasn't there.

Nobody complained to me, but I could tell with the thank you that I got from him that I was one of the few, if not the only one that did so. So next time you go out celebrating your big win, maybe you should think a bit about the person that made it possible.

Just sayin'

Oh, and Happy New Year!

and hedge you STILL have not apologized to Keyser for calling him CHEAP and LOSER ... can you not understand his post

My turn to chime in on this, and yes I just gave LA Burns back 10% on a sizeable winning amount in his mock hilton/Big Easy Invitational contest.

Hedgehog, you mentioned running a fucking fantasy football league of like what 12 people. Get real. Try running one of thse contests where you have 250 entries in, collecting money is a bitch, and I cant remember who all has won stuff in my many contests, but I had your winnings to you as fast possible. Something to said for that too. How many of us have won something never to be paid or it has taken weeks or months, or how about the other fucks that never paid entry fees. Next time your waitor brings your food I hope they wipe their ass with it and you can tip for that.

Do I expect a tip, no. Do I appreciate a tip, you bet your ass I do, kind of makes up for the 10-20 trips I make to the bank or around town to meet people for entry fees.

only cause you're dead money bro......lol

tipping is nice, certainly not expected. that small pool of survivor 2 we ran, 2 guys split and one guy gave me a nice bonus and I was really appreciative. Certainly not expected, and wouldn't have thought any less if he didn't. It is a pain in the ass to collect money, hold money, and make sure that everyone has paid and deal with all the emails. If you do great, if you don't that's okay too, but to criticize others for doing so or find it incredulous is stupid. It's everyone's right to do it or not do it, but it's not everyones right to criticize others for their decisions.

I'm to the point where I don't really believe most of what hedgy says. How can someone be this stupid all the fucking time. He is just lonely.

I won JRs survival pool last year, had the money in the mail the next day after the Tuesday night rescheduled Philly lose to Minnesota. I appreciated that and told him if I ever make it his way I'll buy him a beer and a lane.

Where it is real F ing COLD
I run shit here fantasy football, baseball to 33 boards. This year was the worst, but I think I finally have everything figured out and all payments sent. I never expect a tip, I don't run em for a tip, I like something to do at times. If I get a tip so be it, but I surely don't expect it. I know yyz gets pissy but yes shit GETS LOST in the mail. I have had to cancel a couple checks cause they never made destination.

Definitely going to run fantasy baseball, I love playing and it's my only way to play. I sent out about 3 - 4 emails to everyone to improve scoring etc and go with majority. Can never please everybody but try to make it so every one can live with the rules.

Now for MLB 33 I don't know of I want to do that this year but I know Bobmac loves it and he kicks ass at it.

Where do you live that "shit gets lost in the mail"? Hooterville? The people at Madjacks must be the most unfortunate bunch of postal peons in the country!

Plus, I'm talking about clowns I work with, not long distance love affairs. I'm talking about people who can't find me to pay a $40 entry fee for 8 weeks, but are at my desk first thing Monday morning after a win, who I never see all year other wise. "Oh, hey....how's it going?" Then I ask, "I guess your here for your winnings, huh"?

"Oh, did I win?" :mj07: But by and large, most of the guys pull through, and we enjoy having something to do for a long sports season.

To each their own, no right or wrong answer and you have to suit what you think or is best. With the people I hang out with here, or get into contest throughout city with, we have always given back 10%, and always kind of thought it was an unwritten rule to give back something.

For my smaller stuff, MLB 33 NFL Pickem or any fantasy league, no I dont expect anything. However, for my contests that have many many entries, NFL Survivor NCAA Bowl Contests NCAA Brackets or potentially SB Block, the ones with > or equal to 100 entries, it is appreicated. I would say it is 50/50 who does who doesnt tip. There have been some nice $ winners here at MJ's and I like to think most trust me or think I do a great job, again something to be said for this, no money lost in mail or nothing shipped by turtle delivery and its all there.

Yes, I have a career in pharm/medical sales for the last 15 years, and yes I make a pretty decent living, and no I dont run these playing with my penis hoping or needing a tip. It's principle to me, even if someone says take out $20 for a case of beer, that works too.

For the larger contests, I get 250+ entries. I would say of those 250, I only knew about 50-75 myself, the others were many on here or their friends families or coworkers or my own friends spreading out too. My rule, all $ must be in prior to start of contest, no exceptions, none. Now, yes I have been burned a few times, have had checks bounce and WHY i deposit anything that comes in mail the very next day almost. I never go to bank ever pretty much, but they know when it is contest time. For those that dont run contests, do you have any idea how much time effort gas it takes to store collect entry fees? I also email everyone upon receipt.

Now, moving forward, and this is my decision, I am going to take 5-7% for the time for larger contests, and you can call it a tip if you like. I know I will lose some, but it is what it is. I could go on and on about some of the BS I have endured this year from some on the entrants, not worth it for nothing anymore. I am in 2 $300 SB Blocks here locally, and yes 10% is taken right from them off top, so 10K halftime and 17K final, and I am very ok with that because it is a royal pain to collect 30K and store it and so on. My choice though....

Good luck to all.
