Going for 2 in that situation is the correct decision.

I?m gonna disagree Boss.... u get the 2 and still down 2 scores?
U kick extra pt and down 10 which is 2 scores too? Because if you
Miss now your down 11 and have to convert a 2 pt conversion later
And if had kicked extra point u wouldn?t but apples and oranges I guess

We've had this discussion here before and it's proven that going for 2 there is the right move. I was in your camp until somebody showed me why. Maybe I can find something to back it up. Coaches usually go for 1 there, like all the time, I was surprised to see him go for the 2. They are learning.

The most common and significant mistakes by far are failing to go for 2 when down 4, 8 or 11 late in the game: Of 81 such clear-cut decisions, coaches got it right a combined zero times. They also kicked the extra point down 2 in the third quarter five times, when they clearly shouldn?t have, and once in the fourth(!) for good measure.

There is no excuse for professional coaches to make such simple mistakes. If you?re a coach, you should be doing this analysis yourself ? or doing it better. If you?re still kicking extra points 14 times more often than going for 2, you?re not doing your job. If you?re in the sports media and you haven?t mastered this material, and won?t hold coaches accountable for not doing their jobs, then you?re not doing your job either.

I guess they right but don?t go for
2 until you have to go for 2 imo.... not
sure success rate of the 2 pt conversion
but doesn?t seem high to me!!!!

Suck me
I think the reason to go for 2 down 11 is, if you get it to 9 and give up a touchdown you?re then down 16 so still a 2 score game where 17 would be 3 score game.

I read the linked article and yes, the "numbers" slightly favor going for two there, except it doesn't factor in the time left on the clock, which is very relative when being down 2 or 3 scores. Getting within 10 was the right (and for me, winning my teaser) decision. :0074
