If someone else using your ISP is the source of the problem, it is probable that you will have to wait until their problem is resolved first. This may involve contacting your ISP to see if there are problems with the mail server, or getting AOL to complain 'provider to provider'.

Gentlemen and Lady:

I am by far no computer wiz but, I had recent problems sending e-mails to aol mailboxes. Everything else was going through but 48 hours after I sent an e-mail to an aol mailbox it came back. The funny thing though, some went through but all that were bounced back were from aol.

I called my ISP and they told me that they were getting a lot of similar complaints about aol. Apparently, aol set up their system to protect it from certain virus going around and as a result e-mails were having greater difficulty going through. Whether this information is helpful, I don't know but thats what they told me.

Has this been resolved??? It might not be something you can do anything about. AOL may be having issues with their mail server, it won't be the first time. If your mailserver can't get a message through, it will spool it and keep trying for a predetermined amount of time, hence the delay in letting you know of the problem. Your error message might indicate that. The rule of thumb is that the "squeaky wheel gets the grease" so tell your ISP about it and hopefully your friend at AOL will do the same. If communication is critical, it might be advisable the set up an alternative route of communication, like through hotmail with your friend.

i sent an email to my local ISP, never heard back from them but it started working again the next day. not sure if they did something or aol fixed the problem. in the meantime, i was just using my email through my domain and that was working fine.

thanks for the help.
