been to one a couple years back and it was delicious.

all sorts of delicious, tasty meats served to you. Bring an appetite. I loved it.

Good to go with a group of people and have a blast. My wife doesn't eat red meat, so I can't really go there - but if I could, I'd have that as a top choice to go.

My experiences with these places is to wait for the good stuff.
In my visits, at first they ply you with the sausages, and low end stuff.
Save your appetite for the filets and lamb....the salad bar, appetizers and bread are needless fillers.
Become a premium meat craving caveman for an hour.....

I use a product called "Digest more" for buffet stuffing...its a natural enzyme capsule taken before a huge gorging....prevents the major discomfort afterwards. It really works....

Been to several flesh fests and here's what I know. The pequen?, filet, garlic beef, and bottom sirloin are the best cuts and the tastiest (in order as listed). The salad bar is pretty damn amazing and a total waste of waist space. It's truly a carnivorous delight but still has the salad bar for the ladies and Jaek (he's a dainty diner).
If you can, go for lunch instead of dinner. All the same meats but smaller salad bar and much cheaper. The meats are salted and sliced straight from the spit to your plate. Hoyo have tongs to assist the gauchos when slicing the meat.
The hardest thing to do is train yourself to say no to the ribs, chicken, and other stuff but the gauchos quickly learn your favorites.

Been to quite a few of them....

Been to quite a few of them....

I like these places, but don't love them. For example, I'd rather go to a Mortons and get an nice filet with a bottle of red wine with my wife. Having said that, here are a few I've been to:

Chima (McLean, VA): This place is the nicest one I've been to and I'm not sure if it's a chain or not, if I had to guess I would say it's not. Excellent cuts of meat (every kind), about every kind you can think of. Also, I find the meat is better here than it's counterparts but you'll pay for it in the end. Also, the salad bar is unbelievable and well worth mentioning. Everything from palm hearts to passion fruit. Expect this place to set a couple back at least $300 and closer to $400, we have even spent more here from time to time as it depends upon the celebration. Another plus, we like to come here with large parties of people and they let you buy liquor by the bottle.

Fogo de Chao (Washington, DC): The meat here is great too. This place has a nice atmosphere, it is a chain and you can find them in most major cities in the US. I was pretty impressed with this place the one time I went, the food was seasoned well and it was great. However, I do remember paying for it the next day with an acidic stomach. I remember this place being good, but don't remember the price it has been so long ago since I ate here.

Texas de Brazil (Fairfax, VA): This is a chain as well and these can be found in most major cities. I went here because I had a groupon and it only cost me a little over $100 with drinks for a party of two. While I did like the meal and the atmosphere, I found this place to be my least favorite of the brazilian steakhouses I went to. I mean I liked it but everything was pretty standard and not much stood out.

Cheers,

I have been doing business in Latin America and Brazil for years. You are absolutely spot on to wait. There is a very specific order in how the meats come out. Cheap cuts fist then the good stuff. In Brazil it's also very customary to bring out chicken livers as soon as you sit down to snack on while ordering drinks. I have never seen it at any place in the US.

To FDC's point Picanha is typically the house special. Do not forget to try the national drink of Brazil - uma Caipirinha. If you don't like Cacha?a (sugar cane liquor) you can always try a Caipiroska - its made with Vodka instead. Typically the only Cacha?a available at places in the US is Leblon, not the greatest. My favorite is Esp?rito de Minas.

Another must try is the black bean stew typically around the salad bar with all the trimmings. It's called Feijoada -it's the national dish of Brazil and available on Wednesday and Saturdays. Just try a little because it's very filling and due to the price of most Churrascarias you want to save room for meat.

Went last night. Buffalo N.Y. Watch the coupons (only good on week days, one per party) Very loud place Salad bar was probably best I have ever seen. Enjoyed the servers coming around with cuts but the way most of them are prepared is extremely salty. They seem to crust the meat in salt to sear in the flavors.
Granted this makes you drink more ..Hmmm. I got tired of all the sodium but it was fun.
