excellent post sponge.
was watching Bill Maher on larry king last night and he pretty much echoed what you are saying. McSame's response to the evil question by warren was "Defeat it." Too which he got a thunderous applause from the evangelical audience.
I've got to tell my right wing friends, I am starting to come around to your way of thinking. I, like the current administration have decided to pick and choose which parts of the Constitution I will enforce and which parts I will ignore.
Okay, constitutionalists out there, where is the right to vote? I am convinced that any member of the audience who gave thunderous applause to a candidate who honestly and sincerely responds to a question about evil with the answer "defeat it" should automatically lose the right to vote.
Anyone with me on this?
Sponge, the audience was not fooled. McBush gave them exactly what they want to hear. God talk. We, the good guys, Americans, Christians, wholesome, who do no wrong, will defeat, evil, the bad guys, Muslims, sleezy, arabs, pure and simple. Key word simple. Black and white. Cowboys and indians. Fantasy and reality.
Its, Leave it to Beaver vs. The Crying Game. As long as religion plays a role in the political arena we are going to have nut cases like McCain and Bush. I'm very much looking forward to Maher's movie coming out in October call Religiousity or something like that. There are very few points that he and I disagree on.
