Right behind you
I don't know anything about Betones time in the Corps, nor have I seen his 201 File, but listen up "Chairborne Ranger" Marines are shit magnets ! They are in first and out last, most of the time... there are hostile actions that take place that never show up on the radar, so there are things that you don't need to know.

Just because the greatest duty you have done for this country was hanging out at the back gate at Ft Benning and "Badge Hunting" doesn't mean you know a fucking thing about what Men and Women of Honor, Valor and Duty have done.

:0008

And you have no fucking idea what Beltone has done. Did he ever "jump in front of bullets" as he claims? I doubt it.

I spent three years in enlisted, NCO and officers clubs, watching fat slobs who never did anything more strenuous than swill 25 cent beer and bang the local hookers.

You'll wonder why a civilian was allowed in those clubs, and the PX and commissary too. The answer is that the military didn't give a shit who was there. Active duty, retired, locals, US civilians, nobody cared. I've still got my membership cards, and receipts for the bar tabs which they sent out monthly.

Have some fought bravely? Sure. And plenty more have not.

All I'm doing is asking about your claim to have "jumped in front of bullets". I'll try again, and I'll type real sloooooww so you can keep up.

How many bullets did you "jump in front" of?

Did any of them hit you?

Where?

When?

What are u saying Duff? Are u saying this super hero didn't see any action? U would think by his comments he was Rambo. I thought he was fighting for me while i was allegedly ducking combat. Wow recently i was dicking around in a MMA octagon. Does this mean i can say i was a world champion in my day  There was a boxing ring too. Maybe i can say i knocked out Ali in his prime.

Did I already state that I have no idea what is in his 201 file?

I really don't know how many times I have to explain my position. It's very clear. We need to bring the troops home for many reasons. We should be protecting our borders. We should maintain a standing army. We need to continue to monitor situations around the world and intervene when absolutely necessary. Will harm come to interests around the world? I'm sure at times that would occur. We would need to determine if it's worth a response. It's time that the US stops being the world's police force. You need to work with your allies and talk with your enemies. If we continue on the path we are on, it will be all over.

And I keep trying to tell you that there is no "easy button" like you see in the Office Max commercials on TV that we can press and have troops just magically show up somewhere where they are needed in a flash and solve the problems.

You're very clearly out of your element when discussing military & political strategies and real world situations and being able to look at the impact and influences from numerous outside factors.

I'm not at all suprised that you won't touch the example of South & North Korea that I brought up as it is an excellent example of why we maintain and overseas presence that is used as a deterent.

The world is not a peaceful place. The sooner you realize and come to understand that there are many many people/groups out there that use violence as a tool to push their agenda the sooner you will realize that there is a very real, very important need for a military presence outside of the immediate borders of the United States.

The decisions to use small ops is purely situational. Nukes and mass distruction is always a last resort. Technology is an intrical part of small ops. You can achieve the desired results with out the massive loss of innocent people. With that said, there truly are innocent people in these countries whom should not die as a result of others beliefs or actions.
Just my take,
And there are very intelligent people whom have a passion to serve from all economic back grounds. Sorry if I rant, it truly pisses me off when I hear stupid and idiot attached to our service men and women:0008

Hawaii was a territory of the US during WW2, (actually since 1898), so it analogous to someone attacking Puerto Rico now...

but not analogous to someone attacking one of our military bases in another country, in my opinion.

Guys like u could only dream they could handicap like me. U see it really is pretty simple. It is a lot like politics as well as fighting for corporations under the guise of fighting for ur country. If u can spot the con artist u can shy away from their dastardly deeds. Obviously u couldn't spot a con game if the con artist tried to explain it to u beforehand. Oh and again i never said i had no respect for the military. My beefs is with the cunning pricks who con u into joining. As Joe Rogan would say, "the blood thirsty greedy fuks who can't make enuf money that they don't mind seeing death and destruction just to fatten their wallets. And on another note, just because u are a blowhard asshole it won't stop me from donating to military causes.

I don't understand, I guess. I don't want Americans stationed in a place where they are slowly picked off by a group of religious fanatics that think we are the devil. If we have to fight, we should use our technological advantage to do so. If we would have dropped a nuke on the middle east after 9/11 and said another 2 will be coming if there is even a hint of retaliation, the people of that region would have strung up the trouble makers before they could do any more harm to us.....if they didn't after the first bomb, they would eventually have to or they'd be wiped off the planet. The fact that we ever set foot in that area after 9/11 is a fucking joke. I don't want to risk American lives, sorry if that is un-American to some of you, but as an atheist, I respect life. If someone threatens it, they pay dearly. It may sound like a mixed message, but it makes perfect sense if you think it through.

Keep up that talk and they will start the un-american talk with you too!

I would agree that I am not a military strategist. However, the need for us to have 750 military bases around the goal is excessive. No wonder everybody hates us. Lucky for you, I don't think any politician has the balls to pull us out of everywhere. Well until we are forced to as a last resort.

u ever notice with some of these jackoffs that if u question the policy u are against the troops? Now what kind of a gullible asshole would fall for something this stupid and be one of those jackoffs that would think this? U have to be incredible naive to buy that load of horseshit but somehow the neocons found a clientele that was actually stupid enuf to run with this nonsense.

I think everyone has made their point and we now have come to an impasse.

There are those who served, and those who did not.

It's just that simple, not really, obviously... since this has gone on for 6 pages...

I think TU made a tactical error by calling those who serve(d) idiots. Poor choice of words. He dug himself a hole by fighting an uphill battle on this and I believe he should have back tracked the original statement. He didn't, and he stood his ground.

I know that what I did was for a greater cause than that of the Red, White and Blue. At 18, in the mid 80's, what was our access to the knowledge we have today? Would I feel like I did in the mid 80's and have the same passion now? Too hard to tell.

There is no doubt that we are in too many hot spots and we cherry pick those spots, and we burn up our valuable resources. The world has been at some type of war forever, and there will always be hostilities somewhere in a foreign land. One day....whenever that maybe, it could very well happen here?

Go right ahead and attack, I am used to it.

This has turned into a Coke vs. Pepsi arguement

For the record,

I like Coke, but prefer Dr. Pepper :toast:

You should have stopped with your first sentence. Without being more knowledgeable about the purposes and significance of each of those bases, you have no idea what number is excessive and what number isn't.

I think i'll just keep fighting the fight to save lives and you can continue pointing out just how much more money and lives we need to sacrifice for no reason at all.
