The Departed is the best movie I've seen in a LONG time. I can't believe someone else hasn't mentioned this movie because it is absolutely incredible, start to finish. When the concept of the storyline came to light early in the movie, i knew it was going to be awesome. I've heard this movie compared to GoodFellas (another Scorsese classic), but I am going to say that this might actually be better. If that doesn't spark your interest, nothing will.

I have never liked DiCaprio, but this was a pretty believable performance. I usually hate his performances because he plays characters that are bigger than his puny stature....but he is somewhat believable in this one. Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg are really good, but Alec Baldwin shows why he is one of the best actors out there. His performance was Oscar worthy, but he somehow didn't get nominated.

This movie is out on DVD.....it's a must own IMO.

The Departed is a "remake" of a Hong Kong movie called "Infernal Affairs" ...from 2002. Same exact plot etc.

Check that one out too, if you can stomach subtitles.

Yeah defintly the best movie I have seen in a long time. Watched it online like a month ago and have seen it 2 times since. It took me until the 2nd time to fully understand everything and it was even better. Damon and Dicapprio are great in this one

first i will see any movie that nicholson is in....i think he is truly a great actor & he didn't disappoint me in this movie....he played his character perfectly over the top...

and i agree that this is a great movie...which will get scorsese (sp ?) his first best director's oscar..

i never liked titanic...thought it very over-rated & didn't particularly like the acting, especially dicaprio's. but my opinion of his acting ability started to changed when he did another scorsese movie about the guy who was an imposter...thought he did a pretty credible acting job.but his acting in this movie & blood diamond have made me think he is one of the better actors going today.

however....i think goodfellas is a better movie...

My partner just bought the DVD............so I suppose I'll have it by next week to watch. From all I've heard, it's a little rough to understand on the first viewing.

This is one of those movies I bought without watching first. I knew it would be really good and wasn't disappointed. I'm sure it will be even better the 2nd and 3rd time. Have any of you guys seen Lucky # Slevin? I thought it was a hell of a movie and will be buying it soon.

hated slevin...lasted all of 45 minutes and couldn`t take anymore....haven`t seen departed....but,i`m looking forward to it....

and i have a tough time featuring man-boys like damon/affleck/marky mark and dicaprio as tough guys......although dicaprio can act....

i always thought they were the same guy with different wigs on...

agree on baldwin...as an actor,at least.....he was a monster in glengarry glenross and miami blues....he`s a real actor,no doubt....

i`ll take goodfellas, mean streets and king of new york....and hold my water on departed...

hope it`s as good as reported.....

rented it last night and watched it today. top stuff. i'm not up on the oscar nominations but i'm sure this movie gets a full card. hell, even martin scheen was good in it, maybe his best performance since that vietnam movie with brando in it. oh, apocolypyse now (sp). scorcese is one of my faves too and i was surprised to see brad prick was one of the producers.

i didn't really care for the ending and it wasnt as good as good fellas, imo, but a really good movie none the less.

thanks for the heads up, although i was planning to see it because i see everything nicholson and my girl michele pfeiffer are in ;)

they messed up the ending imo, ....and whats up with that whole Irish mob scene up there in Boston...

Mark Whalbergs character didn't even exist in the original, and they made out Jacks character way too evil, overall tho...good movie, not great tho cause I watched the original trilogy....

sorry bout the spoiler...hopefully only you read it...

Hey Rcxslam..........

Number one rule when talking about a movie. YOU NEVER GIVE AWAY THE ENDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not everybody here has already seen it. Have a little respect for others,
