You guys are fucking with my head with some of these hockey card posts.
Turnbell still have record for a D-man, with 5 goals in a game?
Googly goal:
The record for most goals scored by a defenseman in a single NHL game is 5 goals, achieved by Ian Turnbull on February 2, 1977, against the Detroit Red Wings.
I think I completed 5 straight sets, from whatever year up until that 79-80 Gretzky rookie year (blue borders). Marking the fuck out of checklists and all, cramming shit into front pockets to take to school.
A little regression never hurt anybody.
Reminds me of days when 6 playoff wins wasn't unfathomable.
7 anyone?
More interesting hockey note, I heard some podcast today where they were discussing some trade that the Montreal Canadiens were trying to make--earlyish-70's--of some 5-for-1 deal for the first overall pick that ended up being Denis Potvin (who they targetted) to the Islanders. Google search tells me #1 in the 1973 draft. Islanders teams from 1980-1983 were some of the best ever, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to say how much Potvin made or broke their dominance; they were stacked with Mike Bossy, Bryan Trottier, Gillies, ad absurdum. My first true hatred was for the Montreal Canadiens, though, and I wonder how rebellious that might have become if the mid-70's Habfest would have continued into the Islanders dynasty. Prison, perhaps.
Leafs 2nd period adjustments crucial for game 4.
Nothing is real.
Anything is possible.
