It's the worst radio show on the air. I'm with you. Everytime I'm forced to listen to it because it's the only sports show on, I wonder what the appeal is.

Dawgball, if it was the only sports show on the air, you couldn`t force me to listen to that self centered, arrogant SOB.

IO, your lucky if you don`t get it.

ESPN has dropped Todd Wright All Night for this F'n dope :cursin:

At least that is what is going on here in Chicago. I hope they catch enough grief to change things back. I got a lot of REAL info on games from many of the interviews Todd does with those in the know.

This guy is something else. He said the Cubs lost because ESPN bounced him out of his day slot here for a local writer (Jay Marriotti) to have a show. I guess for some reason they think people here want to listen to him instead of Todd Wright.

This guy is DEFINITELY stealing a check.

I'm getting mad now just thinking about his obnoxious ass. I work overnights and this is really F'n up my routine. :cursin:

I'm glad to know it's not just me :)

Rome is an aquired taste, give him time and he'll grow on you, EVERYONE hates him at first.

Hope you are right

Otherwise I'll have to start listening to the FOX Sports Overnight broadcast :scared and that blows cow balls.

jim rome in a vacuum is an outstanding sports/media personality.

its the setup of his show and the idiots that call in with their lame "schtick" that make his show appear juvenille.

talk radio should be extemporaneous, not contrived.

i dont think there are many guys in the media better than him. but his show could be so much better.

He has the best interviews bar none on his show. He gets people from every sport from coaches to players to upper management. He also has taken a liking to Nascar a sport he hated about 2 yrs ago.

Give him time you will like the show.

His callers directly reflect his personality, IMO. The rants (or whatever he calls them) are simply annoying. There are usually several Clones that call in and attempt at being funny while dissing someone, but it is RARELY humorous. It is like one of those conversations that you get stuck in with the guy at the sports bar that you can't stand.

toast--you're lucky you live in Atlanta. I think that city has had the best sports talk radio on 790 The Zone that I have ever listened to. I listen to it online quite a bit now that I am up here in Nashville.

Although I prefer listening to Beethovens Pastoral Symphony No. 6, I find the Jim Rome show an entertaining break on occasion. His clones are quite funny when they do verbal battle with one another. However, often times he is the biggest suck up to the professional athlete guests he has on his show and throws them big time softball questions. It appears that he is more interested in getting them back on his show as well as not getting the reputation as an interviewer who hammers his guests thereby causing them to avoid his show. Kinda like Letterman used to be in his early days at NBC.

After that statement, the exception being Jim Everett, who, correct me if I'm wrong, but threw a punch at Rome after he repeatedly called him "Chrissie" Everett when he was the Rams quarterback.

Dawgball -

I love 790 the zone. They dropped Rome a while back. Never really listened to Rome cause he was on when Rush was.

Jim Everett jumped over the table and drug his bich ass to the ground. after asking him several times not to disrespect him like that. Rome thought he was so freakin cool talking to him like that, but forgot that he was a pro athlete. total dick.

Man, I wish I had seen the Everett pounding...heard it was good. That was back in the early -mid 90's.

Rome is tolerable in small doses. But he gets old fast as he repeats his "takes" over and over 15 times to fill air time.

Funny how he used to make fun of NASCAR drivers and yet last week he interviewed Earnhardt Jr and was all-time suckup.

Dawg...790thezone.com is great listening, especially Chris Dimino with baseball from 4-7 and the morning guys. It is by far awesome listening.

Thanks Highroller. I was hoping for more of an azz pounding though. Think it was staged? I can't believe Rome was that stupid...yes I can. (The "yes I can" is a Rome-ism by the way).
