Weather
It's looking like rain for most of that week at Augusta. That could favor Rory McIlroy.

I've got the Par 3 contest ready to record :toast:

Can't wait for this to get going! ATT Uverse has some special channels dedicated to coverage. 3 different line ups at Draft Kings, should be fun!

Don?t expect a rookie to win

Only one rookie has ever won the Masters ? Fuzzy Zoeller. The American beat the odds in 1979, and despite Australian Jason Day (14.370) finishing 2nd in 2011, it appears that course knowledge has a pivotal bearing on performance at Augusta. Shane Lowry can be backed at 111.910 to become the first since 1979.

Tough to defend title

Only Jack Nicklaus (1965, 1966), Tiger Woods (2001, 2002) and Nick Faldo (1989,1990) have defended their Masters title the following year since 1934. This highlights the difficulty Bubba Watson will face when he begins his defence, but odds of 11.240 make him the second favourite.

Avoid the early leader

Just four champions ? Craig Wood (1941), Arnold Palmer (1960), Jack Nicklaus (1972) and Ray Floyd (1976) ? have led for all four rounds of the Masters.

Make the cut 12 months earlier

Since the 2000 Masters every winner has made the cut in the year immediately preceding their victory. Does this eliminate Phil Mickelson and Sergio Garcia (45.380) who struggled 12 months ago?

The key to contending at The Masters is to attack the Par 5s and avoid bogeys on the Par 4s and Par 3s. Last year?s winner Bubba Watson was -8 for the Par 5s. With a premium on Par 5 Performance, Driving Distance is certainly an advantage but not absolutely crucial. The tree lined course is deceivingly wide off the tee so Driving Accuracy is not all that important. With a number of right to left doglegs, an ability to shape tee-shots is a distinct advantage.

Players will need to be dialled in with their iron play to hit the greens and more importantly the right part of the greens to setup birdie opportunities. By far and above the most important attribute is putting and any player aspiring to don the Green Jacket will need to putt brilliantly on the lightning-fast sloping greens. Course knowledge cannot be under estimated and those with experience of the undulating greens are usually separated from those making their debut. In 1979 Fuzzy Zoeller became the most recent player of only three in history to win on their first appearance at Augusta National. Invariably greens will be missed so an A-game in Scrambling will also be required. Augusta National is not a catch-up course and a fast start is imperative.

In a nutshell ? hitting Greens in Regulation is paramount, Scrambling is challenging, Par 5 Performance is crucial and racking up pars on the Par 3s and Par 4s is sufficient.
