After a very positive experience watching the Breaking Bad series over the course of a month in late '13, I have decided to do the same with The Wire. I held the series in blu ray in my hand this morning ay Best Buy, but decided I didn't want to part with $179.99 + tax for it. Is there way to get the series free or cheap online? Thanks.

Those are torrents.

I was intimidated at first but torrents are easy. Even Dunclock can do it.

Just get a bittorrent program and the VLC Media Player.

I use BitTorrent 7.1 and the vlc media player is the best, it will play all of them.

Looks like Cie got it figured out but just an FYI... If you have HBO with your tv provider you can simply log into HBOgo for free and watch the entire series on you computer (or on your tv If you have a chromecast, which is $30)or you can watch any episode of any show or special that's ever aired on HBO. Same goes for Showtime

If you don't have HBO can't you simply order it for one month, watch The Wire and then cancel it?

See if your cable provider will give you a free trial of HBO?

Thanks, deezy. I have an hbo subscription, so downloaded the go app. I haven't started the series yet, but will probably connect iPod to tv with hdmi amd watch via HBOgo. Thanks....

If you have an HBO subscription it's available on ON DEMAND.

I downloaded the whole series one day, watched the first episode, and that was it. Maybe I should give it a more fair chance since everybody raves about it.
