Where do I start and which injury was the worst?

I could write a book...:142smilie

Age 4...late 50's at a summer playground basically in our backyard (supposed to be 5 to attend), I get dinged in the forehead walking through a horse shoe game! Ringer! Big old heavy Clydesdale style shoes. Any body theen my baseball?

Freshman year Christmas break...Folks in FL vacationing...after some b-ball at the HS, walk home, slip on ice from a gutter drip in the day...tibia, fibula and ankle busted bad. Made matters worse, in shock, I walked on my right leg trying to convince my self I was...OK. Spent a week in the hospital and 5 months in a full leg cast...hip to toe, crutches.

School year was '72-'73 and the nickname 'Bones' began.

Broke well over 30 bones since...most on the right side of my body...just bad accidents and once, a body slam on a brick sidewalk. It was my body, almost 20 years ago, still have a screw in my right shoulder. Right handed, had to learn how to wipe my ass left handed...try it sometime!:142smilie

One terrible car accident, 6 of us in the car, I was a passenger in the right rear seat. All six of us were ejected out of a 2 door Chevy (early '70's model) 5 on one side of the Highway and one on the other. Two young ladies spent 30 days each in the hospital, the rest of us were released that night/morning.

:142smilie The list goes on...:142smilie

I have had a traumatic bran injury.

Subdural hematomas are usually the result of a serious head injury. When one occurs in this way, it is called an "acute" subdural hematoma. Acute subdural hematomas are among the deadliest of all head injuries. The bleeding fills the brain area very rapidly, compressing brain tissue. This often results in brain injury and may lead to death.

They didn't even reattach my ear for some time because it was on the low priority list.

The scary part is one of my dad's friend saw me speeding and turned his car around to give me a good talking to. I fell asleep right as he caught up to me and said I was doing 70 when I hit an embankment and shot out of the driver side door like a cannon. The only problem was the steel door frame connected with the side of face, slicing it off along with my ear.

I landed face down in a ditch in a foot of water unconscious. The man came over and turned me over or I would have drowned.

Anyways, I'm lucky. I couldn't speak correctly several months and lived in my parents living room.

One day I just snapped out of it. From not being able to tie shoes to everything being normal...
I think this contributes to my extreme risk behavior.

So brain surgery and plastic surgery for me.

wow, seriously, damn...I don't think anyone can top that sir

Turn two at Brainerd International Raceway, motorcycle crash. Front end washed out, broken collar bone, sprained shoulder, sprained knee and bruises everywhere.

This was over 30 yrs ago, I was renting a motel room on the east side of Detroit( going through some rough times) and 2 guys broke in my room over powered me and had me on my knees with a knife at my neck. I gave up my meager valuables but they were not happy with the amount of money I had so they threw me on the bed and started to cut me in the chest. Thought they were going to kill me so I made a decision to try to break out of the room I made it about 2 feet out the door & they had me again trying to drag me back in, one of the guys slit my throat. They panicked & took off. It took 50 some stitches to close it up, the nurse said if I had not been wearing a turtle neck shirt the out come would have been different. To this day I still remember their faces

In the shadows
Hit my a snow shovel in the face 1 day before first grade. Little bitch hit me in my upper lip, I got 6 stitches, looked great for school pictures.

9 yrs old: Hit by a drunk driver when I was on a bike. Fractured skull, concussion, broken ribs, right leg. Medically induced coma for 3 days. In hospital for 12 days. I wasn't allowed to participate in any sports for 1 year.

Ended up suing the bitch 2 weeks before my 19th birthday, made a hefty sum :0074

Did a HALO jump and when opening up primary chute I got a "Roman Candle" I had to quickly release that mess and pull my back up with less than 500 ft to open, not enough time for chute to fully deploy, another broken leg, fractured ankle, another concussion. No more paratrooper shit for me.

Woody,

you are a lucky... man :toast:

I think people make that chit up. I did feel a 'twinge' in my right ankle and gently walked on it late yesterday afternoon before reading this thread///deja vue///. Worked it out today...winters are mild here in The Keys.

I've always recovered & others have had more severe injuries than me. I'm pretty much not disfigured unless you look at my x-rays:142smilie

I've had some rough times and know others that others have been through more than I...read The Mover's post and he's one of 'em. Hope all is well with you Mover! :toast:
