It isn't the same game I love anymore. I" d be very interested to know and would be shocked to find out if a team has ever scored 40 plus four weeks in a row. Add in winningeach game by 17 ,22,27 and 28. Breese is great at reading the defenses, hes a fine thrower of footballs,he has a strong o line and a bevy of skill players.Combining these skilled players withallowing the o line to hold every play, allowing the skill players to run free through the defenses, and most recently, penalizing aggressive tackling. The Saints are a good, maybe great team this year? Are they really better than Warner Rams,Cunnighams Vikings,BradysPats,Aikmans Cowboys, Youngs or Montanas Niners, the great Bear team, the great Washington teams, the Bradshaw Steelers,Starrs Packers? Heck no!!!! Sure the Saints play called like a drunk at the bar, going for it with a three point lead from their own 39 usually is considered dumbbell, risky, but not now,not as much risk, all the rules favor the offense.throwing the last td pass because, what, they, didn't feel safe with a ten point lead and the ball with three minutes left? 177 points in four games.Where does it rank?Stafford threw for 5000 yards in his first full season. The Giants had a record passing year. The players are great, but its too easy and unprecedentedly easy for offensive football to succeed .It does not improve the game to let it morph like this.

Agreed. The NFL loves their marquee QB's and lots of points. The rules have changed to help teams score at will and to throw the ball 50 times a game. Pass interference is a joke, offensive linemen hold 90% of the time, and if your a safety trying to time your hit to breakup a pass good luck and get your checkbook out. It's a fuckin' joke.

I'm not talking about titles, I'm talking about four games scoring 40 plus, That Viking team scored like no tomarrow and missed the chance at a title when Gary Anderson missed his first fg of the season by a coupe of inches.

It'll be fun to watch a DEFENSIVE team win it all and spoil all their fun. :0008

There will not be 40 Saints points in San Francisco next week, that's for sure.

There won't be 40 Pats points scored next week either.

I guarantee.

well, every other team you mentioned won a super bowl or bowls

and i think it was the grimmace on the sidelines who played a big part in that loss.....which was sweet.

In the hands of a top qb,Beady,Breese or Rogers, with great o lines and skill players with todays rules, scoring seems inevitable unless they turn it over and I don't think that's good.has anyone scored 40 or more four straight or more?

I agree. Its not the same game. I got home today and saw the end of 1st half....it was literally....2nd down timeout commercials. 3rd down two-minute warning commercials. 4th down punt....commercials. They come back from commercials and advertise. You can't even see the crowd or cheerleaders b/c the product covers them. They go to a tv show promo between plays. Its terrible.

But to your point and I think that's part of it....They run clock any chance they get to shorten the actual game, but they want the scoring to remain the same or even increase. So they give offenses all the advantages and you get guys like Brady, Manning, Brees, etc who would be so good in the old days and turns them into football gods.

Overall its garbage but the public can't get enough of it. I watch college, play fantasy, and try to enjoy the playoffs. But no, its a long way from what it used to be :(
