Then today they have two games going off at 1pm. Who makes these decisions? What about 12 and 3?

I think I read somewhere its because the Rose Bowl has its own stand alone time slot so no other games can be shown when it is being played.

You may not have noticed but the world is going to hell in a handbasket,,and while I could blame the idiots at ESPN who may not have had a woman available to announce a football game unless it was played at a certain time,,I really think Sportsaholic and Donald J is behind it all,,He carries a LOT of power,,HE being Sports.:popcorn2

Agreed Jack...spread the gms out fer God's sake!!

but on a more positive note...
isn't it a lot easier when there's a 20 min halftime (instead of 15) to look at lines, make a play etc?

and...
why is it in nfl playoffs they give a solid 3.5 hrs between gm starting times, and during the season sometimes its 3 hrs 5 mins?

I actually like having 2 games on at the same time. Can flip back and forth. Its not like they are playoff games where I really want all my attention on one.

That's what I miss about New Years too. I'd love to have a real playoff but 4 teams is still not fair. Throw that in with all these extra days and one game per night etc.

I miss waking up on New Years and watching just enough of a parade to realize I don't like parades....then getting a game at 11am....then 2 more staggering at 1pm.....the mighty overrated Rose Bowl at 5pm as the sun is going down here on the east and hearing Keith Jackson call it the granddaddy of 'em all!!!

And knowing that both the Orange and Sugar were waiting there at 8pm.....and who knows how many of these games will have a play in the national title. I mean, we knew the system was shit but there was something about New Years Day. It was like an extra weekend of the season but with just the good teams....and perhaps 2-3 games watching teams jostle for position.

My viewing goes back to about 1980 to put that in perspective. I like that we're getting closer to a real playoff. I can't stand these games that happen after new years every night. I also miss ties. I think NFL and College should both have no OT in reg season and then the new NFL version in playoffs (but not bowls).

Ok, just some more rambling. It wasn't perfect but there was always something great about New Years Day. The playoff isn't perfect either but at least you've got 4 teams that know what they have to do. I think they should go back to 11 game seasons and let everyone have a bowl....even if half of them just played at the better team's home field.
