I'm sorry but this is why I will never own a dog nor let my boys get one.

They're like a member of the family, why put yourself through this?

When I was 7 years old, my parents made us move from Kansas to Florida and they made me leave my weiner dog "Chippy" behind. I hated them for so long! I just had to leave him with a friend but I knew he would be ok. Still, I was crushed! But he didn't die or I didn't have to put him down.

Hell, we have a Bearded Dragon lizard that we adore. That's gonna hurt when he goes. I know damn well you guys get closer with a dog than a freaking lizard!

To this day I cuss my wife and kids for taking me to "Marley and Me"!

You have my sympathy when the time comes. I just don't get it and I don't like seeing my friends go through this.

deciding to put your dog to sleep is one of the toughest decisions of my life. she had kidney failure and it was bad, lost weight, it was time, I did not think she would make through the night. To relive it now it still chills me. we had her creamated and the urn sits on our mantle. After my current dog goes to heaven, we will not be getting another one, they become family and losing her was devastating, I was depressed for months and then we found out we were going to have another baby and now he is 7 months old.

see you guys later...serious hedgehog for once...

Interesting nole. Would you not say "Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all"?

My take is the opposite, just because if you don't have those moments, it may not make other experiences as valuable? Make sense?

I rather have memories etc., than to not have had any.

Not attacking in any way, just a different perspective...:toast:

No, no, I appreciate what you're saying. See, I was wanting to hear the other side. Your reply, I'm sure, speaks for most who own dogs. I just have seen my friends when they lose their dogs and it's very painful to see them hurtin'.

Thanks for your thoughts dogface(which, as I type sounds wrong) :mj07:

We raised hunting Beagles and Bassets as a kid. I would raise them and train them before we would adopt them out. I have said goodbye to a lot of dogs in my life. Not to mention rescuing dogs the last 5 yrs or so.

Obviously it sucks but I couldn't imagine dogs not being a part of my life or my kids life. The lessons I learned from being involved with animals are countless and I want the same for my daughters.

But I ain't watchin that fkin video!

I did, and it brought back into perspective the significance of family pets, mainly dogs.

I love boxing, in love with MMA, but I have never seen a dog fight...and don't want to. Fuck people like Michael Vick.

LOL! I love DOGS, but I have two rescue dogs that you can have agent! LMAO!!

Chocolate lab, and springer spaniel! Good lord!

Funny thing is, in my divorce, I had a standard poodle, and the ex got him while I got the son. One of the best dogs I wever owned though!!! Now he is good citizen certified, and helps with elderly and school aged children!

I am glad it was taken in perspective, when I replied I took all experiences into mind when replying.
