This is his first year without a Valentine. Didn't know what else to do.

as a former server, I always felt bad for most of these fellas. A lot of time they just wanted someone to talk to and usually lost their wives.

take the time to listen to John ...
everyday I try to make an elderly person smile ..don't cost nothing and they really appreciate it.
and now that I grow closer to those regal titles of "Elderly,Senior Citizen I think back to what my grandparents told me over and over again..
"Respect your elders or we will make you wish you had."
"Michael,that's Yes Sir! to that nice gentleman not yea."

Let me be the first to tell all of you guys on here, it sucks. My first impression of the picture is that he is alone due to losing his wife to death. I may be wrong, but that is how I see it or felt when looking at this picture.
Trust me. I know the feeling of this guy, but I was only 35 years old at the time I lost my wife, so yes the first Valentines day is a a real kick in nuts, and even though 3 years later and Im moving on with my life and dating, it still sucks going to the grave to put a dozen roses on it Valentines Day.

Either way - I find this sad, but at the same time it makes me think about what I currently have.........

for all eternity..
if 10 million people see this picture and 10 thousand decide that a kind gesture toward an elderly person is the order of the day ..that moment recorded forever is truly a precious moment.
Smile at those who have so little time left..
At some point in time their lives in some small way helped to make ours better.
