When I drive by campus, I see the Asian (sometimes Japanese) students wearing masks. I have always wondered why?? Is it a cultural thing?
When I rode the subway in Tokyo, I questioned why people were wearing surgical masks. I was told if they are ill, they do it as a courtesy not to infect others.
I remember back when SARS hit East Asia, my Taiwanese roommates' mother mailed him a care package full of surgical masks. :facepalm:
I believe the Japanese polite non-germ spreading theory, and also think it spread to other parts of Asian a bit after SARS.
I saw a woman at walmart driving a cart last Friday wearing a surgical mask :mj07:
Well, if the water keeps rising, he'll certainly be able to wade through the buildings toward the center of town.
