We've all been warned over and over yet 90% or more people still do it.

Careful at stop lights and stop signs, people texting go right through.

I do it, but not often, I don't drive more than 20 minutes a day anyways. When possible, I will use Siri on my Iphone and then send it sometimes without looking. People get the point I am trying to make. Highly recommend this but even more get bluetooth on your car, it is awesome.

They have the technology to make a cell phone inoperable while moving. Eventually they will get to doing exactly that. I've read studies that show using your cell phone will driving (yes, even talking) is much worse in terms of risk than drunk driving - and we all know how bad DD is. Yes, I do talk on the phone while driving - and I realize I shouldn't even do that, much less text. How did folks get by driving without being on the phone in the past? It is not necessary and I do think it will be stopped by technology at some point...

we can only hope the lobby's to oppose this action are defeated and people start to use common sense again while operating vehicles weighing 2 tons ..

absolutely STUPID ..what people do while driving..

you can bet your life if a family member was killed by a drunk driver they would be screaming for the death penalty for the drunk driver..

no damn difference when ya can't go about your day without out that..

yak...yak...yak...yak...yak....

On any given drive home if I were to look next to me at almost every car I pass I'm sure I would pass at least 10 people texting. In fact I'm about to leave the office now I'll update later.

90% are women. The first thing they do when they drive off is grab the phone.

How many times are you sitting behind someone at a red light and it turns green and they don't move because they are playing with the phone?

I saw a guy in a blizzard this afternoon with a hiked up laptop talking on his phone. I decided to let him go in front.

A few times I will pull beside them and beep and raise my hands to say WTF. Yeah, talk about a dumbass idea. One of them was so startled from me interrupting her texting conversation she almost swung her car right into me.

On the course!
I see them each and every day. You notice them, simply because they weave all over the road exactly as a drunk would! When I pass them, they have their head facing down, and then back to the road, then back down......I kinda gave up caring, because there are more of them than "us" now.

Akron, Oh
The city of Akron is trying to pass tough texting while driving laws but is encountering strong opposition from..... wait for it.................. the NAACP.

Here's a link to a columnists take on the situation-

http://www.ohio.com/news/bob-dyer-akron-should-do-its-homework-on-texting-1.377937

Including this passage-

"The biggest hurdle to passing effective legislation in Akron is the local chapter of the NAACP, which apparently believes this is a sinister plot to harass minorities. As if a cop couldn?t already pull somebody over for any number of trivial or fabricated offenses."
