i know youre an awesome capper fletcher, but i have to wonder how much all this rain and projected 20-30 mph winds are going to affect the score.....i cant remember who it was, but it seems like yesterday i read that the field is fairly new, and would be in horrible condition after all the rain that has fallen.....and it is not supposed to stop til friday or later.....just a thought...gl dude

Wind will not be 20--30 more like 6-10. The storm just hit land this morning. We are in Atlanta and it is just a little brezzy here. Rain fall ahead of the storm will be steady and potentially heavy at times.

yeah

yeah

sorry about that, just saw that....when i was looking last night around 12:00-12:30, thats what it was saying, but we all know how ACCURATE the weather forecasters are.....you know, i wish i could be a weather forecaster....i could be wrong every day of the year, but wake up tomorrow, and have the same if not more credibility....its INSANE!!! but back to the game, i still think it is going under....fl st. will run jones all day, errr, night long, and louisville wont be able to get anything going against their d.....but thats just my opinion....

guys just check weather 30 minutes before K O. Remember just wet does not always mean low score. Worry more about high wins. And 15 to 20 is not that bad. You need some steady 25 and up to lower a score. There going to be a lot of passing in this game Just wet can be advantage to the recivers. This number early was 54 now at 50/51 advantage over.

Weather

I live about 40 miles from Papa John's Stadium. We've had very gentle rain this morning, slight breeze, certainly nothing that would cause a problem, I could easily play golf if it stayed like this all day. I'll post updates if conditions change.

just talked to my sister. she is a block away from stadium tailgaiting. she says it has been raining steady since early this morning. she says the wind is hardly blowing at all though. I am going to call her back 30 minutes before gametime to get more rain and wind updates.

3:30PM eastern, 64 degrees, light rain. The golf courses are closed, water standing. I just checked the local radar and the weather is coming right up the Ohio River over me and on to Louisville. I can tell you from experience that this means a lot of rain for Louisville as these fronts pick up a lot of moisture from the river, as if this one doesn't have enough already.

I'm suppose that the field is covered at Papa John's. I don't know about their drainage but since it's a new, first class stadium I would assume that the drainage systems are first class as well. This rain shows no signs of diminishing right now though and the field will have to be pretty sloppy by the end of the game.

No wind though. Very light breeze.

I think this first half bet is right on target, excellent write up earlier in a different thread. Louisville has been waiting for this game since before the season started and now their thunder has been stolen. Thin O line means trouble for Ragone, wet conditions and stiff D from FSU means trouble for the running attack. Hell, even UK stopped Louisville's running attack, FSU should have no problem. Once the game is out of hand though Ragone will still be in as QB for Louisville unless he has been knocked out because of his Heisman hopes - they still have a lot of Ragone bobbleheads to sell at the stadium.

I like the over as well. All FSU in the first half and most of the third, then a vain comeback attempt by Louisville as they put up as many points as possible in the 4th quarter against FSU's 3rd or 4th string defense.

I dn't know a thing about football, but I do know grass. If its new and its up to specs, the feild will drain about 13" an hour. Unless you have a downpour, which may happen, you don't have to worry about the feild.

I'm worried about Rix trowing the wet football. Does anybody know if he can do it?

Rix seems to be playing better and better with each game. Against Maryland he looked very comfortable and last week they really didn't need him.
The thing about the backdoor in this game is two things. FSU will not have too many third teamers and definitely not a fourth team. They'll only have their travelling squad and that usually goes two deep with various third teamers at speciality positions and special teamers.
The other thing is I really think Raggone will get knocked out of this game. He is a gamer and once the ground game gets shut down, he will try to create his own when he can't find anyone open. With Raggone out, there really is no shot for LV and no shot for a backdoor.

From this morning's Louisville paper:

"There shold be under no circumstances be any standing water on the field," U of L sports information director Kenny Klein said. "In some ways, the field gets a little more playable when it's wet, because it is sand-based. It's like running on a dry beach versus running on a wet one." Right now, they have no plans to cover the field, which is a natural grass/synthetic grass mixture over a sand base. The Sportsgrass surface and the stadiums state-of-the art drainage system are designed to handle up to 6 inches of rain per hour and a total of 15 inches in any sustained storm."

Thanks Superbook. I should have read the rest of the sports section this morning.

The total was sitting at 49 at WSEX about noon, right now it's at 50 and rising.

Unicorn, you make a real good point about the extra squads and Ragone's status in the game. He is one tough young man. I'll bet his future sports agent cringes every time he watches a game like this.

Just checked the forecast for Lville the next few hours: light rain right now (about 2.5 hours before kickoff) but heavy rain tonight.

Valuist -- saw the same but question mark is when does heavy rain start?

Also, forecast is for just light winds: 5 - 10 mph. IMO high winds would have a greater impact than rain on the passing game.
