THURSDAY, DECEMBER 27
Race 1
CRYPTO KITTEN takes the big class drop but should win this one at very short odds. MOUNTABLE figures second best. EMERALD CURRENT rates a chance.

Race 2
VARIANT broke slowly and was stuck behind a wall of horses in the early going last out. He should get a better trip from the outside post and rates the edge with Arroyo picking up the mount. JB'S UNC comes off back-to-back wins and figures to be tough to beat. PURE RUSH is a definite contender.

Race 3
NOT ENUFF JUSTICE beat several of these same horses last out and has the speed to be on or near the lead today. Give her the slight edge. SONG OF DESTINY finished right behind the top pick in her first race since September and will be running late. THIMBLEBERRY fits with these.

Race 4
SEAMSTRESS was second behind a repeat winner at Mountaineer and ran evenly at Keeneland in her only try on the Poly. She appears to be in a good spot to get the win. OFFICER AND A LADY closed well in her last race and can?t be left out of the gimmicks. SHANILEENA comes off a game maiden score.

Race 5
MAC DEHERE has been off since September but Milton Gaede has excellent numbers with returning runners. This one posted a recent bullet work and should be ready to win. RIP AND ROLL was bothered badly in the first turn last out and lost any chance of winning. Look for a better performance today. ROYAL ENSIGN is a contender.

Race 6
SHEZA POSSEBILITY has won five of nine this year and moves up in class after a sharp score in her Turfway debut. Give her the edge despite the class hike. BOOZY BIRD has been running well in starter allowance races and definitely fits in here. MISS ZIGGY is always dangerous.

Race 7
GLOUCESTER BAY comes in off a maiden score at Mountaineer. He drops back to the bottom and should be able to beat these. BRAIN POWER ran poorly in his only try over this track but is capable of better. MAMBO'S SONG rates a chance.

Race 8
SUNANDSEA flashed some speed against better in her debut and should move forward off that start. She gets the nod with Prescott back aboard for Wayne Mogge. MAJESTIQUE looks like the one to beat. ST. BOREALIS is from the hot barn of Tom Drury and is a definite threat.

Race 9
AGOSTON showed big improvement last out and rates the edge in an extremely well matched field. CLASSIC CALIBER has the speed to be dangerous. PASTURE RISE is a threat.

Race 10
STROKIN JOE just missed last out and should get a good trip from the outside post. He rates the edge with Joe Johnson back aboard for Mike Bell. IN MY BOOK takes the class drop and will be tough at this level. BARN STORMER ran poorly in the slop at Mountaineer but gets Arroyo today

Race 1:

BARRY SHORTPANTS ran well in a route race at first asking to be a top contender in the first race of the day, but at short odds though. MUCH STRONGER has a nice workout in the last thirty days and runs for strong connections. Could see a better horse down here. THAAATS RIGHT took on tougher and ended up wide for most of the trip with an outside post. Should improve in his second start with blinkers on.

PLAYS 4-3-5

Race 2: (Turf)

INSINCERELY YOURS was overtaken in the final sixteenth to get beat against similar. Should run another strong effort especially with a better pace scenario. SUNRISE DANSEUR is too consistent to leave out of the mix whether the race is on the grass or dirt.

PLAYS 4-5-3

Race 3:

KLEA has won several times at the distance that runs first start off the claim with a bullet breeze from the gate on Dec. 20th. Should save ground early and is the one to watch. BUFFALO RIVER GAL gets a better draw compared to last and has the ability to rate just off the pace.

PLAYS 6-4-5

Race 4: (Turf)

TWEET N RETWEET has an intriguing workout tab to be a top candidate in race like this running for the Asmussen stable who wins at 15% with debut runners. It helps that the top rider will be in the saddle and draws the outside.

PLAYS 12-6-3

Race 5:

PIONEERING NATIVE exits a strong performance and returns to one of his favorite tracks to be a dangerous player again. Should be saving ground early from the outside. HORNED FROG has tactical speed with top rider aboard who won with SEVERE WEATHER last time out. Of course, he also is a prime suspect to win this race back to back with James Graham now aboard.

PLAYS 7-2-4

Race 6:

YES SIR was the beaten favorite against similar going short in her latest. Connections hoping she will like the added distance since she closed late and pedigree suggests she is bred for stamina.

PLAYS 2-4-7

Race 7:

JULIET?S PROMISE is a daughter of PROUD CITIZEN who has turned out to be a sharp sprinter, but hoping to be even better at longer distances as she goes long first time. Barn wins at 22% with first time route. IMPOSING GRACE already proven at longer distances and should be forwardly placed.

PLAYS 3-5-4

Race 8: (Turf)

DRAGO?S BEST is back from a four-month break to be ready to take on softer company than what he has been facing during the summer. He finished second in the Quick Call stakes at Saratoga and has always been sharp at shorter distances running for a competitive turf outfit.

PLAYS 9-3-2

Race 9:

DEPUTIFORMER has been facing tougher over the last year and will drop to the lowest level to more of a threat second time over the track. He does have two wins at the distance. WAJIR ON ME needs a moderate pace to run down late. High percentage trainer/ jockey combination.

PLAYS 7-8-1-4-2

Ron's plays

1st

5-FAIRY CAT looks like the best of these. Many of the runners that he faced in last came back to run well. He should be tough on or off the lead. 3-ENDLESS DRIVE moves up in class but he always ran well here, he is another capable on or off the pace, and he made a monster move to narrowly miss in last after getting off to a terrible start. 6-DANDYMAN is another who was narrowly beaten in last. This field isn?t much tougher than the one he faced. Could be right there.

2nd

2-SIR KIPLING is one of the few in here in good form. He finished third in his last two. Could graduate today. 1-CLOAK ROOM drops once more. He showed considerable improvement in his second start. Could show even more at this level. 4-SILENT BREEZE just finished second at 22-1. That was his first race with blinkers. If he runs that same race again today, he could be one of the top contenders.

3rd

3-BACKDOC has been in a little tough since getting claimed but he?s back at the right level with the latest drop in class. He finished second the last two times he ran at this level. Figures to earn his second win today. 2-RUNS WITH BULLS won his local debut by daylight. Takes on winners for the first time but the field didn?t come up very tough. Could put his early speed to good use. 6-TWO LIONS completes the sprint-route-sprint sequence and drops in class. His sprints have been far better than his recent routes. Could fly by all with the turn back in distance. 1-THREEFIFTYSEVENMAG also drops. He hasn?t been in very good form but may awaken at this level.

4th

8-DRAGONFLY CHASER drops to the lowest level of her career while turning back in distance. She?s been finishing far back but might have something left for the finish at this level and distance. 4-DUBAI MAGPIE just missed when turned back in distance for last. She finished ahead of many in this field. Can do it again. 9-FEATHERINTHEBREEZE has been fairly competitive in last three. She finished second to a tough winner in last. Wheels back quickly but could be on top of her game. 6-SILVER DIRECTION had trouble in last but still ran well enough to finish second, right behind Dubai Magpie. She?s the uncoupled stablemate of top choice. May be the better half.

5th

6-SAINT INDEED ran well in last despite coming off a six-month layoff. That race could have put the edge on her conditioning. There is plenty of pace in the race. Guessing that she?ll run by late. 7-ELLE?S WAGER hasn?t raced in nearly two months but she has always been at her best when she races fresh. Has been working pretty well since that last start. Should figure in the outcome of this race.4-MASQUERADE FASHION has been a major player in most of her races this year. She owns enough speed to stay close but still finishes with authority. Can run them down late.

6th

7-JUST FOR PAPA was favored in his lone start but he wasn?t able to beat a rival. That race took place at Hoosier in early September. He?s been working well since. His barn obviously thought enough of him that they didn?t drop him into maiden claimers. Can make amends in this one. 8-CAP TRICK is a well-bred runner with decent drills and sharp connections. Can make an impact in his career debut. 1-SELZ is another that didn?t beat a rival in his debut but he had been training well going into that race. Sports a nice pedigree. Deserves another chance.

7th

8-ZAPHYRA won both of her dirt starts at this meet. She didn?t win either by a lot but she showed a lot of moxie in those victories. Although she owns pretty good speed, she seems to be at her best when she uses it to make a late move. Can win right back. 6-SEANS SILVERDANCER just missed to top choice. She hasn?t won since back in April but has been a top contender in a number of her 2012 races. Figures prominently once again. 4-ROMAN INVADER is the uncoupled stablemate of top choice. She was narrowly beaten by her partner the last time they met. Might be able to turn the tables today. 7-ITALIAN ROSE returns from a year-long layoff. She broke her maiden here in November of 2011 and shipped to Gulfstream to win her last start. Could pick up right where she left off.

8th

3-BAILOUT BUDDY drops a few levels. His recent races haven?t been terrible but the drop in class was definitely in order. At this level he just might romp. 8-CHATFIELDS CHAP is usually in the hunt. He owns enough speed to race within striking distance early and he often displays enough stamina to maintain position throughout. 1-MR. SCHNITZEL drops and turns back. He?s been stopping pretty badly but he does have some speed and he figures to carry it much farther at this easier level.

9th

1-ENGLISH ACCENT is bred for turf but she has been far more effective on dirt. However, she has also been meeting much easier recently. She won a non-winners of two for this claiming price in last. Could take the next step through her conditions. 11-SENORITA CATRINA is likely to display better speed with the stretch in distance. She won two of her previous three route races and wired the fields in both of those wins. Figures to try the same tactic here. 10-SILVER CRUSH takes a much-needed drop in class. She?s been fading pretty badly but could easily be a major player at this level.

Just unbelievable

Just unbelievable

Do those "cappers" just flip coins?? They're called "experts"??

I have some advice for them that somebody told me about a LONG, LONG time ago....

"Ya just take the (small) track program and stick a pin threw it while ONLY seeing the front page. Stick the dang pin through it till it comes out the last page. Pick a random spot on the front page to start sticking the pin.

Then you turn to each race and play every horse in each race where the pin went through."

That's it!

I've been noticing that my usual type of bet (EXACTAS -> a,b top/bot c/d) has been producing SUPERfecta winnahs from time to time. AND doing the 10cent box with my four picks has hit enough Supers to make doing that VERY profitable. I checked back close to one year's worth of results.

Soooo yesterday I gave it a go. I had 5 picks. I bet through 5Dimes and they wouldn't let me do 10 cent jobbies, min. was 25 cents. I went for it and it costed me $30. OF COURSE, 3 of the picks were in the winning Zuppa which means I lost.

Last race yesterday, I WROTE down 5 horses to see how I woulda done. That last race yesterday had the most STINKIEST dirt bombs in Philly entered. I wrote down... 1,3,4,6,11. I thought about putting it in through Twin Spires cause I think they would accept 10cent Zuppas, cost woulda been $12. I didn't do it.

Now, the last horse I picked was a first time starter and I went ahead and put him in cause the horses in that race were SO TERRIBLE. Ok, first time starter won the race... . AND, the 3,6,11 were right in back of him. WOULDA, COULDA, SHOULDA.

They announced that winning Zuppa payoff at something like $40grand.. YES, GRAND :(
Ten cent payoff, however was worth, $1800+.

Turns out that nobody coulda won forty something grand cause after I looked into it further - I noted that the Zuppa POOL only had $18147 so that means (methinks) that there were 10 winning ten cent tickets. Mine woulda been the 11th. Each ticket woulda paid something like $1847-184, whatever that is and I would been satisfied alright. Wound I have EVER!

Bottom line is that I'm gonna be playing Zuppas just a little more often and HOPE I don't wind up like them "pros" you posted did, Skodaa ;)

Now I gotta get back through the spider webs to find the exit to this forum. UGH!
