Could have shipped from China for less than $10.00 carton--but would hate to get in laws in trouble as is illegal to do so there.

Rusty per your
"So puttn. cig. tax aside, how do we pay for public services? From recreation, schools, road work, etc"

Thought the lotteries were suppose to take care of that?

I can see where tax money would be spent unwisely, but to say im against all taxes is just dumb IMO.take the blinders off Hedge, people like you keep this country stuck in neutral.

I think it should be 10% consumption tax regardless of how much money you make, the state you live in would get 2%, 8% to Obama. No other taxes needed, no property tax. I am talking none at all, tax things you buy. car/evil SUV 10% tax, 10% on houses, 10% on gas, clothes, I do not care if you make 10 mil per year or 1K/year you should have to pay the same tax rate, this is the only thing that would be fair. before all you liberals start crying, if you feel the need to send the government more money each year because you feel you do not pay enough taxes, go ahead and send them what you think you owe. My tax plan would streamline the IRS dramatically, as you have no individual tax returns, only businesses that collect tax.

Guy at the local store just told me Dunhill's will be going up from $6.50 to $10.00. :scared

Not a big cigarette smoker (pack a week), but that pissed me off.

Don't think it is tax related though. Average pack of domestics are $5.25-$5.50 here.

Like I said, tax money spent wisely im all for it.
As far as a flat tax.It would never work, cause the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Liberal,right wing,tolartarian,dont matter.
This country would not survive on a flat tax.
I will agree on one thing, goverment and state could do more to dumb down taxes, just not flat tax,but we know short of a coup of that said goverment, thats not gonna happen.

Rule of thumb is--those that don't pay the tax are usually ones that are for it--and those that owe the tax but don't pay it--are shoo ins for O's cabinet. :)

As long as my tax money (and it hasnt) doesnt go to a Wal-Mart in my town, and my town prospers in schools, recreation, public service(no abuse please),etc then Im happy.

A good sign your town is on the up is easy
No prop. cuts needed, public service is adequate ,schools are not falling down, and the politicans havent abused(for the most part) Im happy.

Not all towns can say that, esp. the ones with a wal-mart smack-dab in the center of town.:)
