Couple weeks ago I tried the 'tip the checkin person' for the first time and oh my god it's like I stumbled upon the best value ever. Spent first three nights at Treasure Island Tues thru Fri... tipped $50 and she waved the $25/day resort fee and upgraded me to Junior Suite. Was first time I stayed there... room was great but resort is definitely on the down swing. Food options suck and casino is kinda lame.

Checked into Cosmopolitan on Fri morning at 11am. Huge line but went into VIP checkin room since I had 2 comped nights (Fri and Sat) and $100/nite rate for Sun and Mon in standard room. Tipped $100 figuring four nights in a higher end resort warranted the added 'juice' and dude upgraded me to Terrace Suite and was able to get room immediately. This was like $400/night 1000sq foot room with full kitchen, washer/dryer, two full bathrooms, and double wide balcony overlooking Bellagio fountains from 34th floor. Fucking kicked ass... I love their rooms.

Comfortable.... When you check in do you hang the cash in your hand & ask what kind of upgrade can you give me ? If they say" no can do" do you put it back into your pocket ?

I have the bill folded and sticking out between my credit card and license when I hand them over. Both times I just said 'this is for you... anything you can do is appreciated' and then leave it up to them. It's a risk but hey we're gamblers right?

Thanks ! Maybe give it a shot next time out. Was at the Treasure Is. last week for a 2 day conference. Usually stay downtown because easy access plus low mini's.

thats cool

i don't know if this tip works in vegas but was told long ago in AC by former dealer when playing at tables on floor give your comp card with cash buy in say for $200 after you win $100 hold your spot on table go cash out and buy back in for $300 now you have $500 in action for 2 hours time so when your done playing after 4 hours your cash rate is 5 X more and they will comp you way more than if you just played for 5 hrs !

They do see how much in action you have per hand or per shooter or spin of roulette whell but not 100% of the time!

Where you staying in Oct Hawkeye?

I'm going in Sept and will be at SouthPoint for five days and then Planet Hollywood for three.

If we only make an annual trip (living in STL right now on a project) we used to go Wed to the next Tuesday. This year we are going Thur through the next Friday. All ready laying out a plan for the horses and, of course, CFB and the NFL.

BTW...I think we talked about SouthPoint before and they are having a 72hr sale starting tomorrow.

Just got back yesterday. Stayed at ceasars for the first time because I took wife and she wanted a nice place with pool. Had a regular room comped for 3 nights. Tipped 100 at check in. Got upgraded to a bigger room with jacuzzi with belagio fountain view. Also we arrived at noon and they were making everyone wait till 3 or pay 30 bucks for early check in. We got right to the sweet room with no delay. Well worth the tip.

Think I'm going in September... probably stay at Cosmo and Ventian. Depends on what kind of comp offers come my way...

But was it worth an extra $100:confused:

How could you even think it wasn't? Gotta be at least a $200/nite room on a weekday. For $100 he got 3 nights in a jacuzzi suite with a view not to mention immediate room availability? Especially significant because he was with the wife... chicks dig that suave shit.
