Bought a Vita Mix at Costco. Expensive blender that makes hot soup, ice cream, and is great for juicing.
i bought the commercial 'prep' version about 1 month ago. it's great. i made my banana, strawberry and grape smoothie this morning. that machine will be getting lots of action in the next 60 days as i'm on a diet i started today too. i will not gain weight like i did the last time i quit smoking. nope, not gonna let it happen.

good luck!

that blender is great, aint it? :)

i saw a demo at a home and garden show and almost bought it then but my wife talked me into waiting till i got home to find a better deal on the internet. i did :D the only thing i don't have is their $50 recipe book and not going to pay 50 bucks to get one either. i'll manage.

2pm, Day 1. I did something stupid and got a Timys coffee. The urge hit me like a ton of bricks. Had to go to get some 2mg gum. Only bought the 30 pack ($17CAN) cause this gum tastes like crap. I feel better just having the pack in my hands. Going to finish my coffee, take a gum and am going to avoid coffeee for the week like as recommended above.

AVOID THE COFFEE... geez, I never thought it would be that bad. Its now been 14 hours. I feel better and am constantly taking deep breaths.

This shit is not easy. Just after lunchtime here and while the morning was no cakewalk, I wanted a cig VERY badly after I ate.

I am going to do this!

That blender is awesome! Here is what I made. The guy who was demoing it was a health guru. He gave me a huge bag if flaxseed and I add 2 spoonfuls to every drink.

-lg slice of fresh pineapple
-handful of blueberries
-About 14 fresh strawberries (Leave ON the green leaves. They are better for you than the strawberry itself) Just doesn't taste as good.
-2 kiwis
-1 banana
-1 Fuji apple
-1 orange
-handful of green and red grapes with a cup of ice and in 60 seconds you have a healthy smoothie. Just the thing to take the mind of cigarettes (and liquor)

Good Luck Gang!!!!!!

Dear Abby

Its 3:30pm. The nicorette gum just sucks. Takes better than I remember it but my heart felt like it was racing so I dumped it after 20 minutes.

I've eaten 3 fruits so far today. I usually eat 3 pieces in a week.

Smoking sucks! Only Losers smoke! I can't wait for the first 3 days to pass. I think I'm going to tell my boss I'm going through depression because of the ciggys and try to stay home for a few days. Do you guys think it will work? I work for a big company who takes care of the employees very well. Why not give me 3 days off so I feel better?

And no, i don't feel depressed at all. Actually feel wired but I don't want to be at work with all this 'work' pressure.

Actually No. The guy came into Costco, from Vita Mix. I was the last one on the last day to buy one, so he gave me 2 boxes of fruit, jellos, all the props they use during the show, because his next show was in 2 weeks and they buy all new stuff for each demo. I had a huge bag of flaxseeds (it's about 1/2 full) and he was real big into wheatgrass. Said flaxseed and wheatgrass are so important to the body's killing unhealthy cells.

Also mix:

-1 clove fresh garlic
-1 1/2 fresh beet
-1 fresh pepper
-1 fresh tomato
-1/2 carrot
-2 sticks of celery
- fresh parsley (Just throw in a small handful)
1/3 head lettuce
1/2 head cabbage
-handful of fresh spinach
-couple shakes of Mrs Dash

When done, tastes like a fresh V-8!!!! (Took me a while to tweak this) He likes 1/3 clove of garlic (for the high antioxedants) and he didn't use lettuce.

I lived for 2 weeks on fruit drinks in the am and vegetable drinks in the afternoon/night and lost 16 pounds. This is when i was NOT smoking too! The only reason I smoked is when they told me I got promoted. DUMB!!!!!

Another good thing to add is Milk Thistle. The liver is one of the few organs that can "mend itself" and Milk Thistle reportedly may do that. God knows we owe it to our livers!!!! :142smilie

Good Luck Jack!!!

Good Luck Team!!

LOL.... Hang in there! I would think that it would be harder to stay at home instead of going to work because boredom may creep in.... At least at work, you can stay busy and try to keep your mind occupied. Whatever works for you, bud. We're in this together!!! :)

...and as TJ said, :nono: SMOKING!!!

You know what I just did.............

I made a coffee. I was sitting here thinking,"You know what? I'll be damned if these cigaretted are going to dictate when I can have a cup of coffee!"

I usually wait a week. Today is day#1 WITHOUT a smoke and I am having a fuken coffee! made it 1/2 as strong as I usually do. Tastes good and have no cravings?!?!?!

Usually would smoke a 1/4 of a pack in the AM with my 2 cups of coffee!!!!!

Feeling good here. Donna is asleep. She likes to be off the day she quits and sleep most of it away so when she wakes up, most of day #1 is over! :com:

Also did something today. I got of my knees and asked God for help. I am not a religous person, but maybe the big guy in the sky can help me shake this bad habit. Also asked him while he was listening, if he could help me quit drinking. We will see what happens. Hope he has a sense of humour!!!! :D

Good Luck All!!!!!

(Can't believe I am going to make 1 more cup of coffee. This patch is great!!!!!)

Alright Non Smokers..........
You are almost there for Day 1.....................Thats the BIGGEST DAY........You are doing great!!!
While I can certainly identify with the smoking on a physical level (40+years) it is truly ridiculous to me and repulsive on an intellectual level. The idea of using smoke as a vehicle to deliver my drug of choice (nicotine) in addition to tar, arsenic etc, etc. Paying to kill my quality of life and my organs....Absolutely absurd...but I did it for sooooo long. And then with much help....I made it!
NOW YOU GUYS ARE WITH US............THE NON SMOKERS.........
JUST WAIT.........you are going to be amazed at the things you will be able to do .......as you continue your path to great health.
KEEP IT UP...................STAY STRONG........and if you are tempted come here and talk about it........thats what I did and it really helps..Good Job!

TJ....

Quitting drinking is a great idea! Unless you have a real problem you may just need to cut way back???
I don't know about you but I've lost more friends and family to drinking than to cigarettes.......not to mention how extremely hard it is on everyone to try to deal with an alcoholic. Cirosis is NO JOKE......Man that is a very depressing ordeal! I'm sure that many know what I'm talking about..
I still drink on occasion........just kept cutting back till I lost the taste for it and now only once in a while..NEVER get drunk...NEVER.

bear

Good Luck to you!!
