I like the UCLA pics.
I think they are contenders in the PAC 10 ty.

Lots of returning starter on both sides of the ball.
If the Def plays the way it did LY ,the Off. will only need to be better then avg.
I was in Westwood at a irish bar last night and begun talking with some students and fans.
Expectations are high in westwood.

Thanks tulah, heard today UCLA lost a RB for the
season (ACL), can't remember his name but not
good news. Also, you think USC struggles AT
Oregon, almost made my top 10

Further games I like. Don't know why I backed off
this one but it is now in the mix.

Take CLEMSON vs. BC on Nov. 17.

Oct. 20 CLEMSON vs. CENT. MICH (HC)
Oct.27 CLEMSON AT MARYLAND
Nov. 3 CLEMSON AT DUKE
Nov. 10 CLEMSON vs. WAKE FORREST
Nov. 17 CLEMSON vs. BC***
Nov. 24 CLEMSON AT S. CAROLINA

***Clemson is 15-5 since 1987 in their home finale
(9-1 not including rival SC). Clemson was -2.5 ATS
LY and lost to BC 34-33 in double OT.

Clemson Coach: Tommy Bowden
2006 Record (8-5)
5 off. returning starters
7 def. returning starters
--------------------

Oct. 25 BC AT VIRGINIA TECH
Nov. 3 BC vs. FLORIDA STATE
Nov. 10 BC AT MARYLAND*
Nov. 17 BC AT CLEMSON***
Nov. 24 BC vs. MIAMI FLA.*

*LB Dunbar scored on 2 fumble rec's & BC led
14-0 before the offense took the field LY. EAGLES
HAVE DROPPED 3 OF THEIR L/4 NOV. AG's, but
their only win was at College Park.
***See schedule above :mj07:
*With LY's loss to Miami on Thanksgiving, BC was
denied a trip to the ACC Title gm.

BC Coach: Jeff Jagodzinski (Career 0-0):SIB
2006 Record (10-3)
7 off. returning starters
9 def. returning starters

Look at the schedules gents

Not saying to take this pick, but look at it. It's a
total. Don't have a clue where this # will fall, but
consider this game on Oct. 20. AUBURN AT LSU.

2006 LSU AT AUBURN (3-7)
2005 AUBURN AT LSU (17-20)OT
2004 LSU AT AUBURN (9-10)

Auburn has 5 returning starters on off.
Auburn has 7 returning starters on def.

LSU has 6 returning starters on off.
LSU has 8 returning starters on def.

That alone tells me the defenses are even better
this year, and the offenses are weaker.

Auburn must replace their top RB and WR. OC
Borges says they were less aggressive in '06 due
to injuries to Cox and Irons and the off. will be
more freewheeling this year, but they also have
the least experienced O-line since Tuberville
arrived. The defense does have 7 starters back
and allowed just 13.9 ppg in '06. (Phil Steele)

LSU returns 6 starters on offense and must
replace QB Ja Marcus Russell and their top 2
receivers. The def. has 8 starters back AND
ALLOWED JUST 12.6 ppg WITH 5 STARTERS
BACK LAST SEASON. (Phil Steele)

There is one thing that bothers me. In '04 & '06,
it was the 3rd game of the season for both
teams
in '02 they combined for 38 pts in the 8th gm
in '03 they combined for 38 pts in the 8th gm
in '05 they combined for 37 pts in the 7th gm(OT)
in '07 they play their 8th gm.

If the O/U is 39 pts or more :00hour

Another total to look at comes courtesy of Cie,
Aug. 30 LSU AT MISSISSIPPI STATE.

Miss. State has Tulane on deck.
LSU has VIRGINIA TECH on deck.

LSU def. is going to be BETTER than LY :scared
(noted from above post)
LSU off. must concentrate on fundamentals to
prep for Va. Tech, protect itself from injuries, and
not show a damn thing to Va. Tech. In other
words, play conservatively.

Miss. St. has 9 starters back on off. but good luck
against LSU def. 1st game of the season.
Miss. St. has 5 starters back on def. but will be
solid (Phil Steele). "The Bulldogs make my Most
Improved List meaning I give them a shot at a
bowl in 2007".

2006 LSU (48-17) 5th game of the season
2005 LSU (37-7) 5th game of the season
2004 LSU (51-0) 4th game of the season
2003 LSU (41-6) 4th game of the season
2002 LSU (31-13) 4th game of the season

This O/U will be UP THERE. THIS IS THE 1ST
GAME OF THE SEASON. LSU HAS VA. TECH ON
DECK.

Take NOTRE DAME vs. DUKE on Nov. 17. Another
ass whoppin.

Notre Dame has a BRUTAL schedule Sept. 1 thru
Oct. 20, then a BYE. Could very well be 4-4, 3-5,
or at best 5-3. NOT HAPPY CAMPERS.

Nov. 3 NOTRE DAME vs. NAVY*
Nov. 10 NOTRE DAME vs. AIR FORCE*
Nov. 17 NOTRE DAME vs. DUKE***
Nov. 24 NOTRE DAME AT STANFORD

*43 straight wins over Navy.
*Into 2007: the Irish have won 16 straight games
vs military acadamies with the Falcons getting the
last win in 1996. Weis is 4-0 vs these institutions.
***SEE DUKE SCHEDULE :scared

Notre Dame coach: Charlie Weis
2006 Record (10-3)
4 off. returning starters
5 def returning starters
---------------------

Oct. 27 DUKE AT FLORIDA STATE:scared
Nov. 3 DUKE vs. CLEMSON:scared
Nov. 10 DUKE vs. GEO. TECH:scared
Nov. 17 DUKE AT NOTRE DAME:scared ****
Nov. 24 DUKE AT N. CAROLINA:scared

Butch Davis may very well turn the Tar Heel
program around, but not his first season with
5 off. starters and 4 def. starters returning.

Take USF vs. N. CAROLINA on Sept. 22.

Sept. 15 N. CAROLINA vs. VIRGINIA*
Sept. 22 N. CAROLINA AT USF***
Sept. 29 N. CAROLINA AT VIRGINIA TECH*

*NC is just 7-17-1 since '82 vs UVA, but 7-4-1 in
that span when hosting the Cavaliers. This is billed
as the South's oldest rivalry with this being the
112th meeting.
***N. Carolina has played every current BE
member dropping the last 5 games (S/'03). In
their 1st ever meeting LY, NC led 7-0 but 2 int's
that set up TD's & 5 sks did them in.
*The Tar Heels were undone last year by 4 int's
& a blk'd punt as they had 7 more FD's & held
the Hokies to just 224 yds (2 VT drives started
at the NC one yd line).

NC Coach: Butch Davis (1st year)
2006 Record (3-9)
5 off. returning starters
4 def. returning starters
----------------------

Sept. 15 BYE
Sept. 22 USF vs. N. CAROLINA***
Sept. 29 USF vs. WEST VIRGINIA*

***Bulls earned their 1st win ever vs Acc in 3 tries
LY. LY RB Ponton returned to action w/ 101 yds
and 2 TD's in the win. Prior to TY, the Bull's are
44-10 at Raymond James Stadium.
*USF outplayed WV in '05 but lost & upset #7
WV LY, it was the highest ranked tm USF has
ever defeated. USF held the #3 RB (Slaton) in
the NCAA to 43 yds & QB White to just 17 yds.

USF Coach: Jim Leavitt
2006 Record (9-4)
9 off. returning starters
7 def. returning starters

On Phil Steels list of surprise teams and one of
his 8 sets of power ratings calls for them to have
an undefeated year. Let's face it, he, you, and I
don't expect USF to go undefeated this year, but
the fact remains that USF is still flying under the
radar and this will help on this spread the 4th wk
of the season.

So Cal
Thanks tulah, heard today UCLA lost a RB for the
season (ACL), can't remember his name but not
good news. Also, you think USC struggles AT
Oregon, almost made my top 10

When it comes to USC I'm a bit bias.
In my mind I beleave they will roll thru the season
and be playing for the BCS NC.

Road games are always tough but they do get a few cupcakes @ the Coliseum before they travel to N.D then Oregon. I expect USC to handle N.D
easily. Oregon may be a little tough if they're looking ahead to avenge ly's tough loss to Ore St(USC gets the Beavers the next week).
It is a potential letdown game , but by then they would have already played 3 road games in hostile stadiums with this being B2b (N.D the week before). Oregon's Def. is avg at best . IMO
if USC can score 28pts they will win. Oregon would be lucky to score 13pts.

But anything can happend from now till then.
will find out soon enough.

I know every team has its ups and downs during the regular season. IF...Big If USC can remain healthy and get better rushing the ball I think they can go undefeated .

This years Def. may go down as one of the best
ever in NCAA history. I really believe that. It will be a very tough task for any opponent to get in the endzone.

Initially I thought Oregon was the best challenge
for USC. And I still think it's a game to keep an
eye on. But the more I look at the USC schedule,
and the more I think about Jeff Tedford, the more
I like Cal AT HOME ON NOV. 10.

Sept. 15 USC AT NEBRASKA
Sept. 22 USC vs. WASH. STATE
Sept. 29 USC AT WASHINGTON
Oct. 6 USC vs. STANFORD
Oct. 13 USC vs. ARIZONA
Oct. 20 USC AT NOTRE DAME
Oct. 27 USC AT OREGON
Nov. 3 USC vs. OREGON STATE*
Nov. 10 USC AT CALIFORNY***

That's NINE f$cking games in a row.
*Beavers beat them LY 33-31.
***USC put up 14 pts in the 4Q breaking a 9-9
tie ending Cal's Rose Bowl aspirations. Golden
Bears upset a #3 Trojan squad 34-31 in 3OT at
Berkeley back in '03. HOME TEAM IS 4-1.

USC Coach: Pete Carroll.
2006 Record (11-2)
6 off. returning starters
10 def. returning starters
----------------------

Oct. 6 BYE
Oct. 13 CAL. vs. OREGON STATE
Oct. 20 CAL. AT UCLA
Oct. 27 CAL. AT ARIZONA STATE
Nov. 3 CAL. vs. WASHINGTON STATE*
Nov. 10 CAL. vs. USC***
Nov. 17 CAL. AT WASHINGTON*
Nov. 24 BYE

*Cal. beat Wash. St. 21-3 LY.
***Jeff Tedford. HT is 4-1.
*Cal. has beaten UW 5 straight for the first time
S/'76. Cal actually lost 19 straight prior to Tedford.

Cal. Coach: Jeff Tedford
2006 Record: (10-3)
8 off. returning starters
5 def. returning starters

I am making this pick in hopes of a USC letdown
which they are prone to do after 9 straight games
(UCLA LY) and the ability of Jeff Tedford to get er
done.

Kramer, just wondering if these were tough in between games, or ones that I should sit down and watch with a sandwitch:shrug:

Just busting bro, practicing up for our little contest but we may have to "boot" you since you are privy to all this information:nono:

OK, these are my Top Ten Picks :s2:

(2) Sept. 8 So. Miss AT Tennessee
(3) Sept. 22 UCLA vs. Washington
(4) Sept. 22 Toledo vs. Iowa State
(9) Sept. 22 Virginia vs. Geo. Tech
(5) Oct. 6 UCLA vs. Notre Dame
(10) Oct. 13 Kentucky vs. LSU
(1) Oct. 27 Iowa vs. Michigan State
(7) Oct. 27 Kansas AT Texas A&M
(8) Nov.3 Miami Fla. vs. N.C. State
(6) Nov. 10 Wisky vs. Michigan

this is crucial info... I'll definitely be referencing this thread throughout the season. thanks for all the work.

Nov. 17 PITT AT RUTGERS*
Nov. 24 PITT vs. USF***
Dec. 1 PITT AT WEST VIRGINIA*

*Pitt has lost the last 2 games. As HC for the NFL
Bears, Wannstadt hired Rutgers Schiano as his DC.
***Last year the Bulls held Pitt's high scoring off.
scoreless until 6:22 left in game.
*100th edition of the "Backyard Brawl". Pitt is
4-11 vs WV the last 15 yrs.

Pitt goes 0-3 during this stretch

Possibly another team to look at is Nebraska. Their schedule is pretty tough, but they get 2 consecutive "light" weeks in the middle vs. Ball State and Iowa State which falls in between USC and @ Missouri. Might fit the criteria.

Well that's my final tally. My top 10 and 6 HM.

Sept. 8 Take SO. MISS. AT TENNESSEE (2) LOSS

Sept. 22 Take UCLA vs WASHINGTON (3) WIN
Sept. 22 Take TOLEDO vs IOWA ST. (4) WIN
Sept. 22 Take VIRGINIA vs GEO TECH (9) WIN
Sept. 22 Take USF vs N. CAROLINA HM* WIN

Oct. 6 Take UCLA vs. NOTRE DAME (5)LOSS

Oct. 13 Take KENTUCKY vs. LSU (10) WIN

Oct. 20 Take AUBURN/LSU UNDER (HM)*LOSS

Oct. 27 Take IOWA vs. MICH. STATE (1)WIN
Oct. 27 Take KANSAS AT TEXAS A&M (7)WIN

Nov. 10 Take CAL vs. USC (HM)*

Nov. 17 Take CLEMSON vs. BC (HM)*
Nov. 17 Take NOTRE DAME vs. DUKE (HM)*

*Honorable Mention :mj07:

7-3-1 and if you throw out those two POS unders
it's 7-2. One thing I've learned about this college
football season is the rule changes have affected
the totals. I'll never pick an under the rest of the
season, especially when LSU is involved :mj07:

Taking Miami Florida next week :Yep:

But my biggest bet of the year is unrelated to this
thread. SOONERS WILL BITCHSLAP A&M :Yep:

These are "sandwich" games to keep an eye on.
They didn't make my cut but ones to look at none
the less.

Nov. 1 GEO. TECH* vs. VA. TECH
Oct. 13 GEO. TECH* AT MIAMI FLA.
Oct. 6 WAKE FORREST* AT DUKE
Nov. 10 CLEMSON* vs. WAKE FORREST
Sept. 8 BOISE STATE* AT WASHINGTON
Nov. 24 USF* AT PITT.

My Kansas at Texas A&M play just got better. The
A&M coach poped off about the QB situation at
OU and made a remark about where the QB's
were working this summer. Stoops poped back
that when you can't talk about a NC, what else
can you talk about. A&M plays OU at OU the
following week after Kansas. :00hour

First pick of the season is LSU/MISS ST UNDER 45

110/100 I will bet each of these games regardless
of the spread, some for more, some for less. 110
will be my minimum bet. We'll see how it shakes
out.

GL2 ALL out there this season. :00hour

First play was a push. Had I been patient, could
have gotten the hook and a win.

Week Two brings a strong play taking SO. MISS at
TENNESSEE. A look at game is BOISE STATE at
WASHINGTON. And I already like it. Will post more
on these two games as the week progresses.
