As dunclock Andy deals with Hotwire amongst others, there is another way to save AND be associated with Marriott, Hilton, Holiday Inn, etc. If you know which area you want in, like my for instance is Chattanooga, and downtown the Marriott Convention Center rate is $169 per night. Research the largest hospital that is nearby, i.e. in Chattanooga it is Memorial Health System.

Ask the reservationist for the "Memorial Health rate" and it is $99.00 per night. Or, tell them you work for a large company, say, GE, and see what that rate is. GUARANTEED to save you a bundle. And, if you call and they don't have the hospital rate, say another hospital in that area and it will probably be aligned with them.

This is just some advice from a Medical sales rep, and it usually will work. Other large company rates to try are Medtronic, J&J, Boston Scientific. You WILL save money.

good tips and I used to use "I need a government rate" but what I get with savings via HotWire is unbelievable ... downfall is no loyalty points with certain brands like Hyatt, Hilton, Marriott etc

I just booked on HotWire:

Hyatt Place in Ft Wayne for $57
Hampton in Detroit for $48
Holiday Inn Grand Rapids for $53

will be staying downtown or close Fri night in Chicago and will wait til closer for prices to drop :0074

You would actually lie to someone about your employment to save a few dollars on a hotel bill? No way I could do that.

That's hardly the same thing, Andy.

Some choose to do things like this, and others don't. I understand both types.

You probably would. It has nothing to do with being straight and narrow. Its called integrity. I would advise no one to lie about employment or anything else to save a buck. You can live like that. Not me.

There is no lying by me about who I am employed with. The hospital rate is there for vendors as well. What is your point? You, sir, do not know and cannot speak for MY integrity.

Been thinkin' a lot about your post. Maybe I do have some character flaws. If you could tell me the time of the sermon you preach next Sunday, maybe I will attend. Afetrward, I could come over and you can show me all the cool patches you earned in Boyscouts. :0074

:popcorn2

I love my dog. Me and my wife treat our dog like a member of our family - not just a dog.

Anyway - we wanted to go to a lake resort that looked like a huge log cabin hotel. The first thing on their website read NO PETS (except service animals.)

We wanted to bring our dog 'cause she loves to swim and hike so I ordered a service dog vest online and special patches that had to be sewn onto the vest to show what kind of service dog she was. Then she needed papers so I found a few forms online and printed them out from the state of Oregon.

The entire vacation, we had our dog with us just as if we were home - she just wore a vest and every employee on the resort just smiled whenever we walked by never questioning our dogs presence. Some would try to pet the dog and we would say "Can't pet her. She's a working animal."
