They get highly paid so its hatd to feel to bad for them, but to make the round of 32 and to get canned by minnesota???.thats some fucked up stuff.
Coach Steven's is said to have been contacted by Admin from Minnesota and Butler gave him permission to talk with Minnesota.Who the hell does Minnesota think it is? You are going to get basketball athletes to come to Minneapolis? This and the firing of Glen Mason make you shake your head. They are looking for gloriy days of the 1950s and Bernie Oosterbuin to come back and it aint happening. Tubby is no John Wooden but they were competitive and don't think Minnesota gets back here soon.
By the way,I never compared Tubby Smith with Wooden.OF COURSE the shitty arena and lack of first class practice facility contributes to the problem.that reinforces the fact that in my lifetime at least,59 yrs,I cant remember one great minnesota basketball team,ie,no tradition, second rate facility, tits cold weather, Wooden himself might have a tough time winning there. If u think thats the best job shaka could get i have to say i disagree.nobody really first rate will go to coach there either imo.
The last good Minnesota team had Bobby Jackson at PG... he was a solid NBA player and they had a #1 seed. Otherwise, I can't think of a good Gophers team.
Flip's a stiff. Another retread and they'll be at the bottom of the Big 10. Tubby's not a great coach but they are a relevant program and not sure i'ts going to get better. I know everyone up there hates the guy so this was pretty much pre ordained. Bleeding I've heard the same thing from every one else I know in Minny but just not sure you're going to get better.
Minnesota had a top 10 team this year with a bottom 10 coach. Results speak for themselves.
