gl gman! Montreal and the under were my only leans for today. Passed on both. Hope the bullpen doesn't screw this one up for you if it comes down to it. Like Cle's pen screwed us yesterday

But its all good..its a long season

capman:

you confused me with your thread. the first post in your thread says hernandez slays righties and beckett picks up where he left off. then you toss that to the wind and went over? why the swing from one side to the other?

mid-day:

seattle (-116) over anaheim
perhaps im in the minority with my expectations, but i think seattle wins the al west. i expected this line more in the 130/135 range. angels are improved on paper, but ill wait for them to prove it to me on the field. colon is capable of 8 IP and 10 Ks. but hes also capable 4.2 IP and 5 ER. going with the more consistent moyer.

GMan,

You are right about Colon. I am a Whitesox fan and I saw him pitch many times last year and it was frustrating. He has so much potential and looks so good at times and then sucks at other times. I still remember the Sox/Giants game last year when he struck Bonds out in his first three plate appearances and had a 2-hitter going through eight innings and had only pitched 79 pitches the entire game, it was amazing. He was smart and stayed on the outside corner with Bonds and used location rather than trying to overpower him. Then in the 9th, with a 3-run lead he gave up a lead off double to Durham follwed by a walk and then Bonds crushed a 98 mph fastball right next to where I was sitting in the 20th row in right center. He got too cocky and trying blowing one by Bonds rather than throwing around 93-94 mph's and keeping his location. Shortly after that the Sox bullpen gave up a base hit followed by double followed by a intentional walk followed by Rich Aurilia's pinch-hit grand slam. Holy cow that almost sounds like what the Sox did yesterday, imagine that.

fabulous:

take what you saw from colon in one season last year. multiply it by 5 or 6. and then youll see what i saw for half a decade and why the indians were so frustrated by his inconsistency. when hes on, he is a hands down legit #1. hes had some games where hes been absolutely untouchable. almost threw a no-hitter vs the yankees in new york, had some dominant divisional series outings. but he just never developed the mentality of 'im taking the mound today to dominate and theres nothing you can do about it'. like you said, he has a tendency to overthrow. and when he does, his fastball (even though its 98) straightens out and loses the movement. maybe he turns the corner in anaheim? but to me, hes one of those players that plays one notch below his potential. his 'average' is better then most guys 'best', but still should get more out of himself. he's gone toe to toe with pedro and outpitched him a few times. then he'll go and lose to a #5 starter that just got called up

late total:

san diego/los angeles under 7 (+115)
ball seems to die at night in los angeles. plus like the fact that dodgers throw a lefty at burroughs, giles, and klesko. i think game 1 was an abberation. should be a typical low scoring dodger home game tonight
