OK so I am tired of getting into a show only to have it pulled from under me. Don't mind so much if it is a first season failure and they give but shows 4+ season in with no closure feels like lost time to me.

Here is my list of newest complaints and what the hell are they thinking by keeping this on list.

First Shows that were canceled and should still be on:
1. MY NAME IS EARL(NBC)(4 seasons left with cliffhanger)-Ratings fell every year but still had strong numbers and cast and crew wanted its return this fall.NBC did not. Ethan Suplee(Plays Randy) tried to save it but could not. TBS looked into picking it up but I think paying the cast was out of their range.
2. THE UNIT (CBS)(4 seasons left with cliffhanger)- Solid show if you are a David Mamet fan, but CBS always moved it around and would show it one week and then not the next really hurting ratings for a show that carries over week after week for the most part. Went from season 1 16 million viewers to 11 each of next 2 season and 9.8 last season moving it from Tues to Sun.
3. JOURNEYMAN (NBC) - Interesting show that had good plot, good acting but never finished season 1.
4. 30 DAYS(FX)(3 seasons) - Not a huge following but solid documentary show starring Morgan Spurlock.

I am sure more than these four will strike me, but those are the most glaring to me.

Shows that amaze me that they get so much pub and attention:
1. WIPEOUT(ABC) - Not even interested in watching the promos much less the show.
2. BIG BROTHER(CBS) - How in the hell is this into 11 seasons?
3. Anything Island related(Celebrity or otherwise).- I have enough real drama in my life so why do I need a shows drama.
4. AMERICA'S GOT TALENT(NBC) - One word:Hasselhoff.
5. SUPERSTARS(ABC) - This is just plain bad for the 5 minutes a night I have seen of it when passing by it. Jeff Kent shooting jumpers with Ali Landry, REALLY? No Howard Cosell, no me.
6. And finally, just about any show on ABC.

Shows I am trying to start that never did currently during dead summer:
1. RAISING THE BAR(TNT) (In season 2)- Courtroom drama starring Zach Morris from Saved By The Bell. Very far fetched and kinda slow but sticking with it for some reason.
2. IN PLAIN SIGHT(USA)(In season 2) - Not bad show about Marshall's putting people in Witness Protection starring Mary McCormack. Kind of Offbeat dramedy.
3. HUNG(HBO)- 1st season starring Thomas Jane as a broke, down on his luck HS Basketball coach who turns to becoming a male escort because he is well hung.

Of course the only shows on right now worth watching that are many seasons in are ENTOURAGE,WEEDS, AND RESCUE ME.

Anybody got any other shows of recommendation out there??

Also I watched all the episodes of NBC new series THE LISTENER and if Journeyman didn't make then this show has ZERO CHANCE of ever seeing a season 2.

Don't know why but I have been stuck on Hell's Kitchen since it has been on for many seasons now. That Ramsey is such a a$$hole to every person on that show I'm just waiting for someone to kick his ass. Guess what last night show ends with one of the contestants in his face. But this looked to staged for me. Guess we will find out next week.

Best show recently that is no longer was The Shield on FX. Was on 7 seasons and I would easliy watch 7 more. I thought Michael Chiklis acting and charactor was amazing in that show. Really got into that show!!! Now I find myself watching Discovery or History channel more then anything because I can't stand the the BS on the networks. What happened to Cheers, Perfect Strangers, hell I'll even take 3's Company over the BS we have now. I was only a kid when many of those show were on but they were funny and entertaining for me then and still now.

Was a big fan of the Shield as well. Sitcoms are dying fast. I only have a few sitcoms still in my everyday lineup that I didn't mention:
1. Big Bang Theory
2. It's Always Sunny...
3. The Office

Two and a half men is sinking fast as the kid is getting to old and not funny anymore.
How I met your mother is tailing off.

Looking for a new show that has been picked up for a second season then I recommend GARY UNMARRIED on CBS starring Jay Mohr and and Paula Marshall. The son in the show is pretty funny as well.

What do all of these shows have in common?

No (or very little) professional acting talent. This means CHEAP to produce.

They are cheap to produce with no overhead which is what I get. Most shown in dead summer time but that doesn't change the fact that they are brutal.

I guess the very little prof. acting you speak of is Hasselhoff.:mj07:

Its not just reality that blows. The new NBC shows have sucked as well:
Parks and Recreation was awful.
We just got rid of a ever falling ER and now they are coming out with new series TRAUMA.
New series starting this fall that look awful include Defying Gravity a space drama.OK.
And a rehash of the Sci-Fi "V". Really.

I agree with this without a doubt but one of my top 5 shows of all time, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, was shot as a pilot for $300 bucks. Might be the funniest show post Seinfeld other then Arrested Development.

The big 4 networks either want star power or cheap production with good ad revenue. I loved the Office up till season 3 began, now it is just watered down crap. Try watching the UK version, great stuff and kept a story line with comedy and didn't stay on longer then it had too.

For what its worth besides a few gems everyonce and a while the only place that has solid gems are HBO and Showtime. I've watched Hung, Eastbound and Down, Nurse Jackie, and Weeds this summer.

The writing for most shows goes to crap after a year though i.e. Prison Break, Heroes, Lost, Weeds (second season was pretty good), Dexter. It can't be argued. Yeah these shows are still entertaining but I wouldn't say smart creative.

My favorite shows of recent years:

Seinfeld
The Wire
Sopranos
Six Feet Under
Arrested Development
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Deadwood
Felicity
Mr.Show

The Joker

The only shows I watch on TV are:

Seinfeld Re-runs

American Idol - Which is getting boring by the way

Deadliest Catch - Also running it's course

Pawn Stars - new show that I am into

Bite me with Dr. Mike - I am into 5 shows so far and it is already running its course

America's Got Talent - This might be my last year watching it. Hasselhoff is a douche nugget

Anything on the History channel

I don't like "shows" for the most part - I guess Seinfeld is the closest thing to a show I watch.

I think Heroes is back to being a decently creatively written show.

Other than that, I don't watch too many traditional TV shows.

Just saw Pawn Stars last night for the first time. It was great, but I can see it not being interesting after about 4-5 episodes.

The Ultimate Fighter is probably the only other show I make a point to watch outside of Heroes.

Not much TV in my world.

If I had HBO/Showtime I would probably watch too much TV.

The problem with Heroes and Lost are both shows seem to be just going in circles and not leading to any real outcome.
Lost is wrapping up this season which is probably a good thing and maybe the season will have closure to a ton of question. That's if you can remeber them all.

Never heard of Pawn Stars? What channel is it on?

I agree with ya kegray.......nothing more frustrating then a great show getting canned when your right into it.

"Journeyman" was an awesome show that I loved, and then bammo it is gone:(

As for "Lost", that show is just plain silly now, I mean if you wanted answers to all the questions the writers left us with the show would take another 9 years to answer em:mj07: The show is just silly.

Good thing though is it is possible for a show to comeback. The funniest show ever to be put on TV (yes no debate it is the funniest show in the history of TV) got canned and came back. Family Guy has been back for a while now, the world is at peace because of this.

As for good shows according to kickserv:

Family Guy (the best show on TV hands down)
Whale Wars
Axe Men
Deadliest Catch
Ultimate Fighter....season 10 should be amazing:scared
Intervention
Law & Order SVU and Criminal Intent
Inside MMA
MMA Live
MMA Connected
24
Hells Kitchen
Moment of Truth
Survivor
Dragons Den.........great Canadian show
Fringe...........somewhat new, and very well done
COPS
Flashpoint...........Canadian show that I think CBS is canning
The Amazing Race

I heard Flashpoint(very solid show) was coming back and moving to a new night. CBS ratings rose on it every episode to almost 10 million viewers. For a Friday night show, those numbers are nice.

As for Lost, yes it has nose dived big time but thought last season better than 3 or 4.

Fringe is very interesting show and returns this year.

And TUF 10 will be amazing because of one man.

I used to love 24 and it is getting just plain silly now, but I still watch it.
