Haven't posted much at all this year. That may be a good thing. :scared Anyway, two picks stand out to me today...
OSU (+6') - Ok, first things first, the Beavs are one of the worst teams in Div. 1. They're horrible. Having said that, the Huskies have no business laying 6' on the road to anyone. They are a good home team, but they are awful on the road. Brockman will have his way inside, as usual, and I'm sure Appleby will hit some threes, but I expect this game to be tight throughout. OSU hasn't won a single Pac-10 game this year. I have to think they know they have a legit chance of winning today and because of that you will see a great effort from them. If this was any team other than the Beavs I would probably throw some on the ML too. I think they probably win this game outright.
Quacks (-1) - Being a UW alum, I've absolutely loved watching Wazzu get exposed the last few weeks. Still a good team, no doubt, but they were never worthy of their top 5 or 6 ranking. They may be a little better than the Ducks (although that's debateable), but I think they will be running into a buzzsaw at Mac Court tonight.
Porter, Hairston, & Taylor are an unreal trio for the Ducks. Even though Wazzu has a good defense, I just don't see them having an answer for those guys tonight. And one thing I've noticed about Wazzu this year is that they tend to get lazy on perimeter D. I think they're much better on the interior. Porter and Taylor should definitely make them pay for that.
Given that this is a home game for OU I think they will be able to dictate the tempo. A higher scoring game definitely favors the Ducks, and I think that's what we'll see. Even Leunen can run the floor and shoot 3's, so I think we'll see more running and gunning from them tonight. And perhaps most importantly, the Ducks are really starting to play some good ball right now. They know a win against the Cougs would look impressive on their resume for the tourney. I think the Ducks are a lot better than people realize (check out some of their wins) and Wazzu probably isn't as good as people think. I think Oregon wins this one going away. Biggest play of the year for me on OU.
I also lean to Arizona -2 tonight. If Stanford hadn't choked at ASU the other night UofA would be a play for me tonight. However, I don't want to bet against Stanford because them getting swept in the state of Arizona is a lot less likely than a 1-1 road trip.
