So most of you know that prior to my weight loss surgery I had a blog that I updated so I could let everyone know how I was doing, blah, blah, blah. Well I got a message one day last summer from a lady named Trudy who said she had known my dad in high school and had just recently heard he had passed away. I found this odd since he passed away in 1992 but never the less I told her she was nice to contact me and that was that. Fast forward to 6 weeks ago and my Aunt Silvia (dad's sister) calls me who I have not talked to in years. After some small talk she asks me if I remember receiving a message from a lady named Trudy. I said yes and she then tells me that this was my dad's high school sweetheart and that she got pregnant her senior year, was sent away and made to give the baby up for adoption and to never speak of this again. So just like that I find out I've got an older brother! At this time she had not met him yet but had seen pictures and told me that I looked just like him. He is 41, single, never married and Alabama grad, avid golfer and staunch Republican. For my friends on here this is me to a tee! What's really wild is that when he was a senior at Germantown High School in 1986-87 I was a freshman. So we went to high school together! I've recently started up conversation with Melton and he is excited to get to know me and meet up this summer.
Now I always had heard that I had a younger brother named Cory but that was never totally confirmed by me. Listen, I loved my dad and I don't like to speak ill of the dead but apparently he couldn't keep his pecker in his pants, LOL. So I've always wondered if Cory would come knocking on my door one day. Well, that one day happened on Saturday via Facebook. I got a message from a Cory Bradford wanting to know if my dad was Peter Michael Lawson who once coached at Millington High School in Tennessee. When I saw who sent it I knew this was another half brother. YIKES! I also thought I recognized that name. I checked out his page and sure enough it was who I thought it was... the Cory Bradford who played basketball at University of Illinois from 1998 - 2002. How crazy is that??!! So he is all excited that he has found his big brother and we have plans on meeting this summer.
I find it amazing that both of these guys from the outside at least seem to be well adapted and very happy with everything. I know from emails with Trudy that Melton was adopted by a wonderful couple who he loves very much. I don't know yet about Cory's father situation. I'm very excited that I have two more brothers now.
You can't make this stuff up!
