also rebel i remember you posting a picture of Iraqi flying surrendur flag who got killed in his foxhole insinuating we are kiling those who surrendur

turns out that is one of their treacherous ploys....making it next to impossible to determine whether to engage or not and in doing so has killed some American soldiers this way by surprise attacks

you are so quick to find our mishaps and not trust the US and trust the Al Jazeer news -- a big pack of liars -- that it makes me wonder who's side you Euro's are on

you are not neutral at all but instead are rooting for US failure....

another reflection of your deep down hatred for the USA.....

whoops i see Gibber already posted that....my apologies rebel but i will leave it up so that you again remember your actions and that you should be a lot less quick to criticize

or will you say that all the US on the scene reporters are lying in these tactics and the liar Tariq Aziz is telling the truth?

tell you what, we have guys just like you and I over there fighting the fight and THEY DO NOT LIE.....in fact, at least half the reporters over there see the fight through liberal eyes....and they are teling the same story...

Appreciate your input, rebel.

The POW pictures have some people on edge (for good reason) but I would rather be exposed to all views and judgements.

keep posting

Rebel,

I agree with Bobby that you should still keep posting if you wish. I also like to hear other opinions about this war, even if I don't always agree.

rebel,

dont apologize for posting the pictures.. especially the ones of the poor iraqi civillians.. i think they bring the true horrors of war to the front.. and reminds us all that while all we see on tv are fantastic explosions.. there are real people involved.. thats why i think they are pictures that all can see..

what i didnt agree with was the way the were posted.. it was done in a manner as to suggest that the US are vicious murderers with no regard for human life..

thats all

we are never gonna agree AR182. But when arguing politics, there is no winner and there is no loser, instead, if someone would just open their mind up and learn from what other posters are posting. Ive learned a great deal to add to what I allready know. Ive seen many many message forums that are arguing the war, and Iam convinced they are a bunch of kids crying. This is probably the one board that I can say we all have mutual respect, which is good.

rebel is a really really really good friend of mine. We talk time to time and I have gotten to know him from years past. He knows alot of stuff and is just trying to show you all. Whether you like what he posts or not is up to you, but please, no need to bash him. He is posting in a respectable, professional matter.

You know....Jean Luke Picard said it best in Star Trek: First Contact...

"...In the future, our lives are no longer driven for economic reasons. Rather, we live to better ourselfs..."

too bad thats only a movie :(

I don't think I was harsh with Rebel, but if I was I apologize. I just think people are over reacting to every single thing happening with the war. That is why I am against the war being televised like it is.

While you are at it Rebel, why not post some pictures of the hundreds of thousands of Iraquis that Saddam and his henchmen have murdered over the years? You might find the one where a pile of heads (minus bodies) is visible from miles away. Maybe you can find some pictures of those that were tossed into a grinder, feet first to prolong the screaming. Maybe you can find some pictures of Saddam's son in laws whom he beheaded. War is hell - but life in Iraq with Saddam was also hell. Do you believe that the people of Iraq are better off with or without Saddam?

England, u.k.
I can't believe no one mentioned that a B52 bomber dropped avery large bomb smack on a building believed to house most of the Iraqi troops in Basra. The size of bomb was 200 tonnes or maybe 2000 tonnes, but I think they said it was one of the largest bombs ever to be used in war in last dozen years.

The weather has been a hindrence today for the troops, more importantly, what has the sand storms done for our weapons and vehicles. It was a good opportunity to re-group and take stock of the situation.

propaganda does not only go one way. from an italian newspaper

Teheran, 09:25

(red)

it basically says that the sciits said there is no uprising just a protest for the lack of water and electricity that the bombs caused.

I enjoy reading the different views put forth in these posts and hope it stays out of the gutter. Only a few things I'd like to add- Of course this is a dirty War. It would be nice if other means than violence could resolve it, but this is our last resort. How far would Ghandi have gotten if he faced Saddam and not the British? (By the :toast: Hats off to my ancestor's home) And if "Bush is Hitler" as so many protestor signs have said- I think we would be waging this War a little differently. As far as the media I expect no less and am still learning every day. God Bless Our troops!

PROPAGANDA (n.) -- any widespread promotion of particular ideas

OMG..... Let's get this straight. PROPAGANDA flows out of ALL sides of this war. It's true of ANY conflict, for that matter, because "war" is sought to be won in many different aspects. There is the MILITARY campaign, PSYCHOLOGICAL campaign, PUBLIC RELATIONS campaign, etc.

"News" is to be reported objectively. But in "analyzing" and "commentating", viewpoints can be expressed. The U.S. government and military big wigs will feed propaganda (i.e. "we are winning the battle", "Saddam's regime is crumbling") to the news media who may in turn run them as part of news stories or in some other analysis. Quite simply, they are viewpoints. And of course, the more pro-coalition they are, the more it will get trumped up. Likewise, Al-Jazeera will show the pro-Arab side.

Freeze, you must be watching too much "fair and balanced" reporting on FOX News. I watch it too, but keep in mind that this is the network that chided others for not being pro-American enough after 9/11. Let's keep in mind that they gloatedly reported the "finding" of a chemical weapons factory a couple of days ago (as put out by the Pentagon) without doing more fact finding and without much "objectivity", mind you. They reported it as the "smoking gun" and the commentators were ecstatic. And Bill O' Reilly....his anti-French boycott rants are the worst. I'm sorry, but this kind of rhetoric shouldn't even be on the news.

When it's all said and done, the U.S. will win this conflict in Iraq, but let's not be naive as to think that this is a one-sided war. There will be tough days ahead and we should be prepared for it. Let's keep backing our troops and our leaders, and GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Gecko- Right on. LOL that most of our news isn't slanted or propaganda. Of course it is, just like every other country slants its news. It's to be expected. Watching the BBC is much more informative than tuning into Fox or CNN.
