Just like I said Lienhart is way overrated as it gets how is this guy being looked at has a Potential heisman candidate; he feeded off having a great o line and great great wr and also happens to be in the pac 10 where they play no defense and just like i said all those weaknesses are showing tonight; their off line looks absolutely horrific vtech is in the backfield on every play and lienhart cant throw the ball worth anything and it makes it worse when the wrs cant catch anything; I knew randall and humes would have a big day apparently what scott thinks about vtech running the ball is a wasted down; i guess all evidence the contrary of course usc defense is not a top 20 defense in my opinion and its showing; USC is lucky they are getting bailed out by the officials or this could be even worse. usc better make some adjustments or i am going to take my moneyline bet and cash that BIG; usc #1 give me a break :142lmao:
nice 7pts in the entire half; i bet scott is just like :cursin: ; i am sure if usc loses he will have plenty of plenty of excuses i cant wait :142lmao:

bailed out by the officials is being way too kind, they might as well just give the game to usc. What a bunch of crap they are calling. Yea usc will be #1 as long as they can play with the extra guys in the stripes.

What a crock of crap :cursin: :cursin:

Bottom line is whether they are really #1 or not will be fairly irrelevent in light of their pansy ass schedule that almost guarantees an unbeaten season. Amazing that a couple of hideous calls in the very first game of the season may determine a participant in the national title game.

bbk, i agree with you 100%, i do not see how anyone could consider usc the #1 team in the nation, if it were not for reggie bush they would not even be the best in the pac 10. As for the officials, i am ashamed that they are from the sec, i just hope that group does not make a trip to oxford this year.

I guess you would be more impressed if USC worked their kinks out against a Div. 2 opponent or div. 1a opponent. :142lmao: USC beating Louisiana Monroe by 50pts would do what for the team or your perception?

Give V-Tech credit. They are a very good team and this was the 1st game of the year. USC had $hit load of injuries/suspensions/distractios coming into this game. Not to mention an inexperienced OL and WR's. The way USC played tonight is no suprise at all. In fact I was VERY VERY close in my prediiction of the game. I thought USC was gonna win 31-13 pulling away late. Game being closer than the score suggests. USC won by 11pts tonight but game was a lot closer than the score suggest.

Oh yeah. Randall played AWESOME tonight. I am a big fan of his now and def. will be rooting for him the rest of the year. He showed great leadership tonight and almost won the game for his team.

The USC team you saw tonight will look completely different at the end of the year.
BANK ON IT!

Exactly Blackman! Gve V-Tech credit and Beamer was smart in bringing the house against USC! Very good coach.

they better get better or they are toast; it will be interesting to see what defense do; all they need to do is key on bush he is much better wr then rb too small to play rb but a great wr; the pass int call was cost vtech; anyone that watched the game knows that; what a crock; i think everyone that wathes that game know usc is not the number one team in the nation but polls dont mean anything its all about win and losses; hopefully vegas will continue to overvalue usc for the next few games so i can cash in on them; their off line is absolutely horrible and the wr with are even worse; usc was very lucky to come out with a win; thank god for them they play one of the easiest schedules in the nation

Well--it was the first game of the season and it was a close game. VT is a very welcome addition to the ACC and has always boasted a great defense. USC got by this test and will face an easier schedule this fall---so they passed their first test. They will be the number 1 team until the final game.....when they will face a very battle tested team from the south....which one, I don't know now. :scared

He did eat his words. Leinart was 11/13 in the 2nd half with 2 TD passes. USC defense also stepped up in the 2nd half holding V-Tech to exactly 100 yards and only 3pts. O-Line also gave Leinart better pass protection in the 2h. Zero sacks by V-Tech in the 2h.

SC was ragged but it was the first game so that isn't a major shock. The key is they won without their best "fastball" and that is what it is all about - winning.

There's a reason Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, and LSU open their seasons against Georgia Southern, North Texas, Bowling Green and Arkansas State (OK I cheated here OSU is LSU's first game but @LSU). First games are scary. First games on the road are even more scary. And first games with 3 new OL and a brand new receiving corp are terrifying. I applaud our coaches for having the balls to play at Auburn and effectively at Virginia Tech in back to back openers. It would be nice to see other top programs step up!

That above quote is funny. No, I think they reason why they open up with a weak opponent is because the rest of their schedules are downright brutal.

As for the game, I believe the called offensive PI changed and won the game for USC. They went from being down potentially 6 or 10 points to scoring on their next possession to go up 4.

I still feel USC will run the table and go undefeated but sure some red flags were shown against Tech as the defense of USC showed me very little against a average offense. USC still should run the table since they play one of the easiest schedules in the country and they also don't play their league games in one of the top leagues. I cannot see anyone outside of Oreg State being able to beat them on their schedule as they should be double digit favorites against all of their opponents. The defense they exhibited last night would be a huge concern if they had to play in the SEC, ACC or Big 12 but you can live with it in the Pac 10.

Master Capper I agree the USC defense did not play as well as they should have. But there were 2 main things that hurt the USC defense and that was Randall running the ball and the TE's for V-Tech! V-Tech only had 61 yards I think from their running backs. Everyone knows that a great mobile QB who is experienced can make a great defense look bad. (not saying USC D was great but you know what I mean)

Expect USC to be much much improved as the season goes on. V-Tech was not a cupcake opponent to get the season started off. Another thing nobody mentions is how V-Tech threw everything offensively at USC yet USC did not throw much offensively at V-Tech. USC was conservative and wanted to get the win. The BUSH plays were merely fly plays. Chow did not open the playbook in this game and the inexperienced WR's did struggle. I will remember to look back a lot of these posts at the end of the year and bring them back as quotes!

Master Capper the whole pac 10 pre-season SOS is ranked higher than LSU's SOS (who is SEC contender) USC SOS should be top 50 in the nation so that would NOT make it one of the easiest schedules in the country as you suggested! Source CFN

Congrats on going 2-0 last night! Good capping MC!

Scott,

I never said Va Tech was a cupcake team but this is also a team that is being projected as a bottom tier ACC team! I am not going to get into the SOS of schedule debate with you again as this is a foolish comparison since the season has not even played out but I will answer your question on LSU. This year alone LSU play Georgia and Fla on the road and both of these teams are better than any team that USC will play this year at least on paper. Personally if I was a USC fan I would be concerned about the defense being exploited last night from a team that has limited weapons on offense. As I stated earlier I still believe that USC will run the table unless they get tripped up in Corvalis as the schedule is not very tough and the Pac 10 is not a grinder league week in and week out.

Then don't make comments saying USC has one of the "easiest schedule in the country." Yes LSU has tough road games (def. tougher than USC) but they have $hit load of easy games and the whole Pac 10 conf. is expected to have a tougher SOS than LSU.

This was the 1st game of the season and you cannot project too much off of it. Geesh. USC just wanted to win and they did. If USC beat tech by 30pts it still would not mean anything. At least I know Tech is a good team and Randall played awesome and USC was fortunate to get the win. That said, USC knows they have a lot to work on and they will improve as any well coached team will. If USC does not improve USC will lose 3-4 games this year.
