Scott,
Alright Alright Alright, you made very sound points and its really difficult for me to come up with a good rebuttal. I don't have that much ammo in my bag. You got me for right now but let me touch on this subject a little later. But for right now I concede but they do play some great football within the SEC. Now, you have to admit that.
Enjoyed the argument and I gained some knowledge from you. Have a great Thanksgiving!

I am not going to spend much time researching so I'll just offer my "quick" opinion on the subject. If you disagree, then I'll bring out the ammo! :)

I have a lot of respect for the Big 10 for playing quality OOC. So I might have to put them #1.

I like the ACC and they also play quality OOC. Prob. put them #2.

#3 is tough betwen the Pac 10 and SEC. I have to give the nod to the Pac 10 because the average SOS for the Pac 10 is #28. Average SOS for SEC is #56. There isn't much of an argument to made for the SEC. Nobody here on MJ's has ever made one. Take a look at who Sagarin has rated in his top 30. Pac 10 has won 11 games against Sagarin top 30 teams. SEC has won 5 games against Sagarin top 30 teams. Remember, Pac 10 is only a 10 team conf. while SEC is 12 teams. :) Also look at the difference between home games played in the Pac 10 vs home games played in the SEC. :)

#4 would be the SEC but I don't think there is big separation from #3 and #4. But there really is no argument supporting the SEC being ranked higher than the Pac 10. At least I have not seen one and I could not come up with one myself. I would not say the Pac 10 is superior to the SEC but maybe slighly better based on evidence.

#5 is the Big 12 with huge separation from the other 4 conferences. This is a bad bad bad conf. Very bad. Last year the Big 12 was the 5th best conf. and we saw how that prepared OU for the BCS Title game. This year I feel the Big 12 is a lot worse than it was last year.

#6 Big East

Scott - I agree with your list. Makes a lot of sense.

I hope the top four SEC teams play big ten or pac-10 teams in bowls this year. Then you will have your evidence! Hell let all 6 sec bowl teams play any of them. 4 wins 2 losses at worst! Wait and see!! Geez no way pac-10 and big ten better top four teams against top four teams!! Get a grip with reality!! oh forgot Pac-10 and big ten dont have 4 good teams!! geez I must be loosing my mind.
