Seriously, this program is a disgrace. Isolated incidents occur everywhere, but this is way out of line. Dare I say Bama-esque. Jarret has his rent paid by Leinart's dad, Bush's parent's get house and job, Mayo receives cash, McKnight drives a $50K vehicle.

If this were Wake Forest, then puishment would have likely been swift and would certainly have been severe.

Lame.

Figured I would hear from you and your buddy, Rolltide. The big one is coming up for you guys. Do us (SEC West) proud:toast:

3 National titles out of the SEC west (and 5 for the SEC west overall) this decade would speak volumes imo;)

#1 Bush "thing" has not gone away and is still being investigated.

#2 McKnight was driving a $27,000 2006 vehicle. Does sound fishy but supposedly it is his girlfriend's car that is being paid for by her (again supposedly) and she is secretary (again supposedly) of the guy whose name it was bought under.

I don't know if this is "disgraceful" as you put it, and though it is not kosher, can't imagine things are too different in all but the elite colleges - or have you not kept up with Tennessee's problems? Florida's reinstatement? And hundreds of others.

Right across town the UCLA basketball team has a player (Dragovich) who is facing two felony assault counts but is still playing.

The truly disgraceful thing about USC's program is that Carroll insisted on playing Barkley.

1) Ray Charles can see what happened in the Bush and family episode, yet 4 years later we have no punishment. So yeah I would say it is not being taken very seriously.

2) Sure things like this happen at other places, and they are dealt with. Alabama lost many scholarships over their "donor" episode. To equate spontanious actions of teenagers at other locations, to the methodical actions taken at USC in recent years is not the same imo. I can name 5 of my dawgs alone that got arrested this year. I cant however name any that had a home purchased for them and family or cars bought for them through the girlfriend. If it happens I would expect them to be punished and in a timely manner. I really think the article from the la time posted above hits it on the head.

The NCAA is still looking into the Reggie Bush situation about as much as OJ is still trying to find who really killed his ex-wife.

I hear ya, Ferd. It happens all over. While I agree that the Gator suspension practices, and Vols use of hostesses are lame, there is nothing worse than buying recruits, which is what I am accusing USC of doing repeatedly. Using chicks to lure in players is one thing, but paying them really annoys me. My own university is not immune. Last week, LSU WR coach resigned after it was reported that he paid cash to a JUCO transfer DT.

USC has had several major incidents over the past few years. It is well-documented that Mayo was paid. I assume that some form of punishment will follow on that one.

You and I both know Bush's family received benefits, but nothing has been done yet. We'll see what happens there.....

Jarret received benefits (Leinart's dad paid portion of his rent at a swank pad shared with Matt), but I assume that having your rent paid by the parent of another player is not a violation because nothing has ever been made of it.

Now, McKnight drives a 27K vehicle owned by his girlfriend and financed by her mother's employer. For 3 years I remained quiet on the McKnight topic, because I assumed that all of the local rumors of McKnight being paid were sour grapes over LSU losing the best player in the state that season. Maybe there is nothing there, but I am leaning the other way at this point. I guess we'll see.

Happy Holidays, Ferd:toast:

Scott4USC actually bought McKnight's SUV with his winnings from the halftime wager of the USC-Texas game. Since an equipment manager who picks up jockstraps is not considered a booster (no pun intended) USC will walk on this one too!

yeah, nothing shady happens in the sec

:142smilie

If the extent of your arguement is putting words in my mouth when I actually said the exact opposite then you truely need to reevaluate the situation. Your blind defense and desire to defend your conference golden goose is the exact reason usc has been allowed to get away unscathed. Much like the ncaa, you dont want the only real power in your conference to get the bitch slapping they deserve because then your conference becomes even less relevant. I as well as other sec schools on the other hand would be calling for heads to roll at ala, fla, lsu, tenn, aub and any other school in our conference because I want to whip their asses. The ncaa realizes you bitch slap an sec power and another fills the void. Bitch slap usc and well i think you get the picture.

I only have one question. Let's say the USC athletic department is totally corrupt. I don't know why the NCAA would choose to ignore their egregious misconduct while hammering others. Tht's what I don't understand. Surely there are universities with richer alumni and far more important graduates, so why let them skate?
