the reason i put that out there about the pac-10 is that i hear the same BS every year...EVERY year..about how weak, bad, unimpressive, etc...the pac-10 is.

you're quote says it all..."5th best conf tag"........says who?????

There is this personality type that thinks their opinion is fact.People of this type are often heard to say something along the lines of "peolple don't like me because I just tell the trueth" when it is really an opinion, not a fact they just stated. The people of this type distinguish themselves in another very peculiar way, they establish friendships (or otherwise) with people by placing themselves in conflict with them.No one is exempted from this uncomfortable process.Scott, if this sounds a bit familiar to you,the book is called The Enneagram in Work and Love,(author Helen Palmer)chapter 8 is about this type, which I think you stand a good chance of being, based on your obsession with calling your opinion a fact all the time.Gl

i know people have been riding you all year for your loyalty to usc.hang in there the season is almost over.

i thinik you did a very good job stating your case.

right now, i have no position on a side. i tend to favor the under.

good luck.

Scott, great writeup!

It's evident you spent a lot of time thinking this thru, even though it does come off a little like a FAN. Some here will always consider your SC posts as that from a homer, but so what?
There are still people who think there is no life left of the Rockies......

I'm still on the fence about this game and may not even play it, but I appreciate your input.....Good luck

GJN,
and Scott5USC

GJN, can you please tell Scott that a decade is 10 years, as you stated in your post. You USC fans... one telling me that USC is the winningest team this decade... but only counting from 00 to 03, and now GJN gets it correct and shows a true ten yr decade...

But Scott has also told me that the past is the past and doesn't count for the current standings and programs last time I brought up bowl records for the rose bowl of yesteryear...
and now GJN says the past matters in making cases for the current yr.
I am more confused than an horny octopus with a set of bagpipes.

But Scott, my kudos to you. You did an excellent job of a write up and analysis. Very well worded, thought out, and broken down. I wish more posters here would put 1/10 of the effort you did into that write up.
Now, I don't agree with a word you typed, but I still would like to let you know I appreciate your time and effort and encourage you to do more write ups like this for next season... with maybe a random team from a non pac-10 conference... just to see how you do and test those cappin skills.

enjoy the weather down there.

As I have frequently said, Scott may well know his stuff, but all the other stuff takes away any value I can place in an analysis fro him as to why USC will win a game. It is of course a combination of fact, opinion, spin, and inaccuracies. Either side can be justified for just about any game - it is just fallacy to say some's reasoning is smarter than others - only hindsight will tell.

As I have also said, when Scott posts 4 pages as to why I should bet AGAINST USC I will stand up and pay attention.

Didnt TT, the 4th place team in the Big 12 South, just throw for over 500 yards against a defense that held USC to under 250 yards of total offense? So tell us again about those ngreat defenses USC faced this year?

First let me say, thanks for the nice words to those who complinented my post. Very much appreciated. I also want to say I do not take offense to anyone disagreeing with any or all pts in my post. Remember, it was my post with my opinion explaining why I like USC to beat OU and how confident I am. I do not think it is a slam dunk, hence the reason I hedged. I also said you could make valid arguments why OU beats USC. I did mention all the close OU games, and I said you could do the same with USC.

I don't understand why people want me to post reasons to take OU. My big bet is on USC and I have given facts supporting my pick AND expressed my opinions/analysis on the game which favors USC. Why? Because I am betting USC BIG! It is my pick! Some stuff was tongue and cheek but I guess it is hard to express that on a message board.

I am curious to why I have yet to see a post explaining why OU will beat USC. All i read is Pac 10 sucks and OU will smoke USC. USC has heard those same comments prior to their last 2 BCS bowl games. Why not explain why/how OU will beat USC. Educate someone.

To those who are concerned about White. He is healthy. He will play and I think he will be effective. He is not 100% but he is at his best since his initial ankle injury. I know people who have attended most of the OB practices and they said White was looking good in the last 2 days of practices. Bush is starting because White has not practiced much.

These same guys have told me USC looks extremely sharp and focused. VERY intense practices and Leinart was hitting all his passes. Carroll is quoted as saying USC finished their last week of practices in same fashion as when they played Iowa in OB 2 years ago. Very very prepared.

The biggest news is how healthy and good OL John Drake has looked. He has been out the last 3 games.

BTW, their are a lot more OU fans here at South Beach but USC has been well represented as well. OU will have more fans at the game IMO.

my posts and my FACTS have nothing to do with the USC game vs OU...other than the FACT that the Pac-10 is 5-1 in BCS games.

My FACTS are more supportive of how the "perception" of the Pac-10 is completely flawed. Why is it that when any pac-10 team loses a bowl game, the ENTIRE CONFERENCE is put down as weak, soft, over-rated, etc......? Those some exagerations and incorrect perception are never stated about the Big-12, SEC or Big 10....why? The Pac-10 is treated like a mid-major by the media and most fans east of the rockies....like you people invented football.

honolulu, Hi, USA
I know you are a die hard USC fan yet I still appreciate your write up. I, myself am not much for writing so I commend you on your efforts and the hard work that goes into it. I am still sitting on the fence and will probably make a game time decision.

By the way, I did pick up an interesting piece of information. Over the past 3 years, when the public moves the line in favor of OK, they have only won at a 40% clip (14-21).

Even though USC is overrated and plays in a soft, weak conference, I may have to play USC if this line keeps running.

If USC is overrated and plays in weak soft conf. then OU will beat USC by double digits. Don't understand your post.

As for line movement, doesn't mean anything. USC -2, -1, pk +1 means very little. More people think OU will win. I do not think it is a reason to play USC.
