The problem is not necessarily the NCAA rejecting Mike Williams reinstatement. The problem is the way the NCAA handled it.
The NCAA defined what Mike Williams needed to do in order to be reinstated. He cut ties with that agent, gave back all monies and benefits he received, and enrolled in classes. Then the NCAA rules that he will not be reinstated. Anyone with a pair of brain cells could figure out the hypocrisy in the ruling.
THe NCAA said they are going to be more STUDENT FRIENDLY. Letting Mike Williams back is more student friendly and a very very unique case in where Mike Williams did nothing wrong.
Read my previous post above and you will clearly see how poorly the NCAA handled this situation. Many Trojan fans felt WIlliams would be back if he passed his 2 summer school classes. That was the only thing USC and Williams had not sent in. The NCAA knew about everything else prior and could have rejected Williams MONTHS ago. Why did they stretch this out? Why didn't the NCAA tell Mike there was no way he can get back in because of the 6unit rule? Agent? Cash? Why didn't they tell him upfront? That was all known well before hand. That is what USC fans (other fans too) and administration is pissed off about. You do not stretch this out 3+ months and ask the kid and University to do all these things and after they accomplish everything you ask deny their request. What they are denying Williams of was all known beforehand. That is the problem. If Williams failed his 2 classes then that would have been a legit reason to deny him this late and that is what everybody thought was the hold-up.
I will tell you why the NCAA did this. This now prevents Williams from suing the NFL. It is now all too late for WIlliams, and now this young man must sit out for 5+ months. Way to go NCAA, you sure dropped the ball on this one.
